 This unit introduces students with the dynamics,
provision, financing and access to Malaysian health care.
 The Malaysian community is made up of people from many
cultures.
 Awareness of cultural diversity is vital when working as a
physiotherapist in Malaysia.
 Practitioners need to be aware of their own cultural
assumptions, and the cultures of hospitals and of health
care.
 Physiotherapists must consider the impact of the health
culture on people for whom a hospital or other health
care setting is an unfamiliar environment.
 In this unit, the areas of professional practice such as
medico-legal aspects, professional autonomy and
accountability, administration etc are also addressed.
