Bed Bugs Hitch
a Ride
After receiving a distressed call from a homeowner Rainbow
International’s branch Cardiff attended a property to find an
infestation of bed bugs in 2 of their bedrooms.
The homeowner had been on a cycling trip to America 4
months earlier. It is very likely that he picked the bed bugs up
whilst he was away on his trip from a hotel room and brought
them back to the UK with him infesting his home.
When Rainbow’s specialist bed bug remediation technician
attended the property the first thing he needed to do was to start
moving furniture and bedding in the affected areas to look for signs
of the bed bug infestation as they are mainly active at night.
The remediation process to eliminate the bed bug infestation was
carried out in 2 stages. The first stage of the process took 5hours,
the treatment mainly involved spraying a chemical that coated all of
the carpet in the rooms, any affected furniture and items such as the
bed and mattress.
During the remediation process some bed bugs and their eggs/larvae
Build up immunity.
On their second visit Rainbow used a different chemical to deal with the
immunity issue, this treatment included a chemical spray and tent traps.
These are very effective as bed bugs are attracted to the attractant
embedded in the glue within the trap, once they crawl into the trap, they
are unable to escape.
Rainbow over the 2 visits spent a total of 10 hours on-site successfully
eradicating the bed bugs.
