Robin Wilson is an advocate for clean construction methods, with clients that have included the Harlem office of President Clinton, the White House Fellows office, private homes, developers and consultation with a leading international hotel. Her design firm continues to handle select projects across the country. She is an ambassador to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, on the board of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, and has partnered with consumer products giant Panasonic to promote its latest line of cutting edge products for the home. In May 2013, her furniture line, Nest Home by Robin Wilson, premiered at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York. She is author of IPPY award winning Kennedy Green House (Greenleaf, 2010) and regularly appears on the speakers’ circuit, on television and offers commentary in print on design, wellness, sustainability and allergy and asthma issues. Dog is Good Co-Founder Gila Kurtz, a product of northern Virginia, graduated from Virginia Tech University. When she bought Jon (her husband and business partner) with her Visa card at a bid for bachelors auction in 1988 (true story), it effectively ended her teaching career. After she convinced Jon to adopt a too-young Dalmatian puppy, Gila learned she really liked dogs and decided to pursue a career as a dog trainer. She and Jon launched Dog is Good in 2007. A dog lifestyle company focused on the relationship between dogs and humans, the brand quickly grew into a broad array of product categories and is now found in over 1,000 retail stores in North America and internationally. Gila was recognized in 2013 as one of five finalists in the small business entrepreneur category for the Women in the Pet Industry’s prestigious “Woman of the Year” award and Gila and Jon were the recipients of SCORE’s national Excellence Award for Veteran Owned Business in 2013. Devoted to being a “force for good," Gila and the company focus on giving back to their community. For the past 12 months, Gila has employed her skills as a professional dog trainer to raise a puppy for Leader Dogs for the Blind.
