FIOB is a coalition of indigenous groups in Oaxaca and Los Angeles founded in 1991 that works to support indigenous communities and defend human rights. Their new project plan is to create a 15-20 minute documentary interviewing 5-10 monolingual elders from Oaxaca to preserve their culture and language through storytelling, as many feel immigration and technology have contributed to its loss. The documentary will include interviews with elders about their lives and customs, interviews with youth about cultural identity, and footage from cultural events.
