This document provides information about forming the present continuous tense in English. It discusses how to form the affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms using the verb "to be" plus the verb with "-ing." Examples are given for each person (I, you, he, she, it, we, they). Spelling rules are also outlined, such as adding "-ing" to most verbs, deleting the "-e" for verbs ending in a consonant plus "e," changing "-ie" to "-ying" for verbs ending in "-ie," and doubling the final consonant for verbs ending in a vowel-consonant. happening now, at the moment
we speak.

We use the present continuos:
• To talk about things that are
happening now, but not exactly at
the moment we speak.
My brother is looking for a job at the
moment.
You are spending a lot of money
these days.

3. SPELLING RULES
• With most verbs we add -ing.
Go - going Play - playing Work - working
• If the verb ends in consonant + e we
delete the -e and add -ing.
Come - coming Live - living
Move – moving Have - having
*Exception: be - being
• If the verb ends in -ie, we change -ie to -
ying.
Die - dying Lie - lying

4. • If the verb ends in one vowel +
one consonant ,we double the
consonant.
Get - getting Run - running
Shop - shopping Sit - sitting

y, -w or -x ,we just add -ing.
