You Should Know
You have just listened to a report on an animal. A report
gives you information about something (animals,
natural phenomena, plants, etc.). A report starts from
general information to details, such as physical
description, habitat, diet, and breeding system. The
subject of a report is not specific but general. Learn
more about this kind of text.
About the text
The first paragraph of an information report on pages
126 and 127 introduces us to the orangutans and gives
us some general information.
The general information is
called the identification or
general statement.
And the rest is called
description.

When you can picture the “doing” actions
physically or mentally, we can call the verbs
action verbs.
Find action verbs in the text about
orangutans on pages 126–127.
Read the explanation.
Like adjectives, adverbs have a comparison and a
superlative form. You use them for comparing the
way people/animals do things.
You use more to make the comparative form of an
adverb and the most to make the superlative form.
A bike goes swiftly.
The deer runs more swiftly.
The cheetah runs the most
swiftly.
Read the explanation.
With adverbs that don’t end with –ly, you add –er
and –est to form the comparative and
superlative.
A bike goes fast.
A car goes faster.
A plane goes the fastest.
