This research study will examine how a London-based sport program called London Premier League Kicks helps urban youth build social capital and mobility. The program uses football to steer youth away from crime and into education and employment. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with youth aged over 16 who participated in the program to understand how the different social networks and forms of social capital they developed (bonding, bridging, linking) helped them integrate into society. Prior research found sport programs can build bonding and bridging capital between ethnic groups but are weak at producing sustainable bridging capital to help youth "get ahead".
