4. La Constitución de la República de Bolivia de 24 de
junio de 1826, promulgada durante el gobierno del
presidente Antonio José de Sucre con reglas
establecidas. Creada en cada departamento un jefe
de Policía, nombrado por el gobierno y tres o cuatro
comisarios de la Policía
En el año 1831 el presidente Andrés de Santa Cruz,
a través de un Reglamento de Policía comienza a
sistematizar y mejorar las normas derivadas de la
Constitución.

Según la CPE Art. 251 dice:
La Policía Boliviana, como fuerza pública, tiene la misión
específica de la defensa de la sociedad y la conservación del
orden público, y el cumplimiento de las leyes en todo el
territorio boliviano.
VISION:
Ser una institución digna, moderna y transparente que
lideresa la seguridad ciudadana, coadyuvando con el
desarrollo para el vivir bien; ejerciendo sus funciones con
profesionalismo, practicando activamente una relación
policía – comunidad, fortalecida con participación, inclusión
y prevención social para la construcción de una sociedad
democrática.
