Latvia is expected to adopt the euro on January 1, 2014. There are high expectations that adopting the euro will lead to benefits like low inflation, high growth, and rising foreign investment. However, other eurozone countries' experiences show that underlying competitiveness, institutions, politics, and policymaking are more important determinants of success than joining criteria. Slovenia joined the eurozone in 2007 and experienced slowing growth as it struggled with institutional readiness. Slovakia joined in 2009 at an overvalued exchange rate but was able to avoid major negative impacts due to previous economic reforms. Estonia's transition to the euro in 2011 went smoothly.
Going strong from June 2007, the LiST or B2BLIST as it also is know jumps from clarity to clarity, recently also complemented by the no.41 of The PRIME Match - all of this and more in a year's corporate membership! 2012 the PRIME Team ran 18 events...-Can you afford to remain on the sidelines much more? INFORMATIONAL
HISTORY
Born in Spring of 2007, The LiST’s original
purpose was to bring together qualified
job-seekers with potential employers in an
informal setting during monthly networking
events. These events were typically held at
the offices of PRIME Recruitment and in the
early days, were attended by 20-30 profes-
sionals.
As our networking prowess grew and The
LiST’s success gained momentum, we began
offering participating companies to co-host
the event, which gave them the possibility to
promote themselves to members and other
attendants. Balta pioneered this initiative and
co-hosted a fruitful networking event at the
Powder Tower in Riga’s Old Town. The event
brought over 70 people together proving the
joint-hosting formula to be a roaring success.
We are constantly developing and refining
the B2B L!ST, offering new services to com-
pensate for the ever-changing market needs.
Our motto is “Make business happen” and
the growing number of B2B L!ST members
are putting this motto into practise.
TYPES OF EVENTS
Major L!ST
In this kind of event typically, the host invites
the members over for a tour of his facilities
and buildings and presents the hosting com-
pany further via a Power Point presentation.
Besides the host company, other companies
also get a chance to present themselves to
the public at The Speaker’s Corner. The most
recent Major L!ST was held at Ragnsells waste
management company who showed us their
new premises near Ķekava – about 55 people
signed up for a very interesting tour of the
facilities, met the project managers and sub
contractors.
Focus L!ST
This is an event held in your premises, where-
by you invite guests and show them your
products/services. We try to bring in different
people and help to network. This event is on
much smaller scale than the Major L!ST and
can be organized a lot faster. Recent Focus
L!STs took place on September 9 at Skrivanek
Language Training Centre and on November
10 at INRE Scandinavian Design .
Taste L!ST
This is a gourmet event where people con-
verge to socialize, be entertained and simulta-
neously cultivate their knowledge of the rare
and exotic. Primarily, it is a tasting event where
guests learn about and enjoy various beverag-
es (e.g. wine, whiskey, cognac, beer) and dish-
es from around the world. Because of its small
format, more time is available to get to know
one another and understand each other’s
needs. Usually it runs monthly – in November
2010 we visited Antica Roma where the Moz-
zarella was said to be exquisite and the event
so joyous that some guests bought wine, cook-
ing oil and even signed up for cooking classes.
Smaller groups meeting over a glass, learning
new things and trying the product.
SUCCESS
The B2B L!ST today consists of two main
types of members: job seekers and corporate
clients. The aim is to gather some 300 people
from all over Latvia in the B2B network. “Mak-
ing Business Happen” is our motto and with a
large network we will indeed make it happen!
Already we have proven to do so, e.g. in Lat-
via, as a direct result of one of the Taste L!STs,
one member gained 14 new customers for a
customer. Another client had 35 new custom-
ers joining them, yet another member gained
22 new clients for their Services’ company.
An overseas entity was opened in collabora-
tion with two Latvian local companies and
jobs were created abroad. These are but a
few examples of our successes. In 2011 the
L!ST will also extensively focus on the Export
sector (see also page17).
THE FUTURE
We are always looking to expand, perhaps out
of Riga and even and cross-border. One new
thing on the horizon is cooperation with Tal-
linn and PRIME is looking at this with a Finn-
ish partner. We also had some interest from
Liepaja and members there and additionally
we run a LEAN Management Group Pan Bal-
tics that aims to connect with companies and
organizations looking at connecting to see
how they can increase efficiencies in their
work procedures to save cost, manage waste
and motivate staff. THIS is PRIME Recruit-
ment’s field of work recruiting people who
understand what they are doing for manag-
ers who invest in rational thinking.
