Piet Mondrian was a Dutch abstract artist known for his minimalist style. He developed a grid-based system of composition using only horizontal and vertical lines and the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue. This style, which he named Neoplasticism, emphasized universal harmony and order through simplified forms and primary colors.
