David Buschauer has moved around frequently throughout his life but has found stability through his musical performances. He was introduced to violin at a young age by his father, who instilled a drive for success. This led him to pursue both law and the arts in high school, landing lead roles in plays. He was later invited to join the band The Radiomen, which has performed widely and reignited a passion for rock and roll. His experiences as a performer have shown him the emotional connection needed to engage an audience, and he aspires to one day be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I AM the way the truth and the life. Jesus' claim was exclusive. Truth matters.
This is the first of two parts of a series on John 14:6.
In a world of inclusivism and pluralism, Jesus' claim still demands a response.
Today we celebrate the Feast of All Saints and for some reason we get it stuck in our heads that saints are a completely different kind of human being - when instead, they are very ordinary people like you and I. So, while we may all take a moment to remember our favorite saints – what about all those who may have gone before us and are unrecognized as a saint? So, take a few minutes and see how people like Jessica Robles, Jimmy Willmert, Joe Shuba, and my friend Steve DiGregorio have helped open many eyes to what this Feast Day means. See what I mean…

Throughout my life, I've never taken root in a single place for too long. I've been dug up,
replanted and exposed to many. The one thing that keeps me from withering away is
performance to which I've devoted my life. It has forced me to look at my situation and view it
as a shift in audiences. It has forced me to realize that while I have not taken up roots anywhere
long enough to call home, my branches have spread through the hearts and lives of so many.
Like many, I started music at an early age, but unlike many I was also taught the
importance of achievement. I was like every other boy in my 1st grade class, I wanted to play the
guitar. However, my father had a different idea in mind when he handed me a violin. Through
that simple action alone, he taught to me the value (and frustration) of practicing when learning
how to play an instrument. He also instilled in me my drive for success and accomplishment.
Therefore, I am a firm believer in Machiavelli who brought forth the idea of, "the end justifies
the means." I cannot recall a single instance in my being that I have ever given up on a task
without trying to find an alternative solution first. In my mind, there is a way around everything.
This is perhaps why I was so drawn to practice law. However, my musical career is far more
important to me. I believe that takes great courage: to truly chase what you know you were
meant to do.
Deep involvement in my faith brought me to the front pews of my little Wisconsin church
every Sunday. Eventually, I wanted to bring more life to that bland, carpeted stage. I started my
acting career as humble as a sheep, which was coincidentally my first few roles on that coveted
stage. From there, I decided to pursue acting in another form on my Destination Imagination
team. Destination Imagination was a creative problem solving program that gave me my first

scriptwriting and performance training. By my second year in the program, my team of middle
school peers earned 4th place at the Global competition in Knoxville, Tennessee. Strapped with
confidence, I tried out for Lemont High School's winter play as a freshman. My audition was
evident of hours of rehearsal with my father to develop "Stop Signs" by Shane Koyczan in to the
most dramatic representation of a poem my little freshman self could give. The same drive that
never fled me was there months later after I landed a lead role, type-casted as a 5 year old. With
that momentum, I tried my hand at singing and acting by auditioning for the spring musical of
Guys and Dolls in which I landed a supporting role of "Harry The Horse". Throughout my high
school career, ambition drove me to take those leaps of faith in the direction of the arts. I have
never lost that ambition, nor the respect I have for musical theater.
The road I envisioned for myself was clear until I was blindsided by the offer to join a band
called The Radiomen. What was even more shocking was the fact that frontman and guitarist
Ryan Fitzgerald wanted me to play bass. My impulsive teenage tendencies took over at that point
and I immediately accepted. I figured that since I knew scales on a 6 string guitar, bass couldn't
be that hard and for the past 10 months, it hasn't. With the ignited passion of not only myself, but
two other Rock n' Roll lovers, The Radiomen have performed at many popular venues in
Chicago and beyond such as Wire, Bottom Lounge, House of Blues Chicago (twice) and even
House of Blues Cleveland. With an unhindered passion for rock n roll and blues, The Radiomen
along with myself, personally feel we are bringing back not only the sound of Rock N' Roll, but
the spirit too.

From my life as a performer, I know what it takes to get an audience going. It takes a
connection, musically and emotionally. On our trip to Cleveland to play House of Blues, we
stopped at the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame. Given the opportunity to be in the same room as
Ringo Starr's drum kit had me shaking. Janis Joplin's eyeglasses brought me to tears. Just like
me, they put their heart and soul into their craft and just like them, I am going to give chills to
that 1st grade rockstar wannabe standing in my future section of the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame.
