A vital want of mine is to become successful and compelling inside out. Striving for
greatness is one of my best hobbies. Adding to my obstacles in life I’ve always come out
superior. Battles of self-worth, depression, and the absent of a father figure took a huge toll on
my life. Still, I strived for greatness. These dramatic battles have shaped me to become who I am
today.
I am a very determined person. I’ve always been intent on who I sincerely am. Very
assured about my sexuality I soon had a change in interest. Eventually, I realized that I was a
homosexual. Establishing my change, I owned my sexuality completely and through this fashion
was my outlet. Through time I found myself standing strong, and often defending my sexuality.
I would also express my sexuality and emotions through my clothing. It was the only way I could
show myself with a positive approach. With this method of expression, I stood tall against all
of society’s stereotypes towards the LGBT Community. Disregarding the suicide of my father or
being deficient of a father figure, my sexuality was only one thing, my sexuality. I refuse to let it
resemble me as a person. My strengths are rewards from my life’s battles and interpersonal
wounds. From bullying and harassment toward my sexuality and the execution of my personal
depression, life itself for me in particular wasn’t alluring or attractive. Furthermore, I faced every

situation and predicament head on with no surrender. I will not let any person affect my future
negatively. I always said to myself, “I will accomplish, I will achieve, and I will be successfully
dressed.”
Continuing life and securing all of my many attributes, my love for fashion grew
immensely. “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the
street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” –Coco Chanel
Our world today would disappear without fashion. It determines your character and also
your emotion. Fashion has absolutely no rules, it gives you unlimited freedom. I want to spread
my love for fashion and I want to study Fashion Merchandising. I’ve chosen this study because I
notice that neither a bargain shopper nor a loyalist is 100% satisfied with the department
marketing production. Studies show that sales have been low due to a new urban trend
“thrifting.” Thrifting is an act of shopping differently, yet trendy piece of clothing for dirt cheap
that aren’t in the everyday department. If you mix trend with unique pieces, you please both
sides of the market’s consumers. I understand fashion more than life itself. It’s truly my first
love. That is why it is my dream to study at one of the best art institute’s, The Art Institute of
Atlanta, GA. Pleasing society and helping any human in this world express their inner self and
become absolutely comfortable with their flaws, is a gift that I could never stop giving.
