To kick off SXSWi 2014, we shared just a few things we wanted to do and see while in Austin this year.
And we're happy to report that we crossed off most of the things on our list, and we're now just 1 degree from Kevin Bacon. *swoon*
The document discusses various wearable technologies that were on display at SXSW 2014, including Google Glass, smart watches, gaming tech like Oculus Rift, and health devices like Fitbit. It provides ratings for each on usability, coolness, practicality, and novelty. While the technologies were novel, the document concludes that most current wearable tech is useless as it replicates what smartphones can already do, and true transformation will require expanding their capabilities to provide useful information that can drive behavioral changes.
This document provides a daily recap and highlights from Larissa Barth's experience at SXSWi as an Art Director for PBJS. It summarizes each day's sessions on topics like the digital age, design, leadership, and technology. For each session, it lists important quotes, people to follow on social media, and lessons learned. It also shares celebrity sightings, food recommendations, parties attended, and photos from the event. The document discusses strategies for connecting with superfans of a brand through shareable content. It defines superfans as people who are passionate about a brand and enjoy sharing that passion. The goal is to build a community of 100,000 superfans sharing content related to the brand. The strategies discussed include building an immersive experience for superfans that invites them into the brand's world, empowering their creativity, and making sharing content easy in order to amplify buzz around the brand in social media.

The result is an environment where the pull of live experiences, where digital brands can hybridize their consumer relationships, is becoming stronger -- and more important than ever.
In this paper, we outline and explore:
- The cultural landscape digitally native brands inhabit
- Consumer, tech and marketing trends
- The benefits digital brands can gain through meeting their audiences offline
- How digital brands can make meaningful real-life connections
The document discusses strategy and innovation centers and provides guidance on planning, designing, and operating such centers. It notes that leading brands are establishing dedicated innovation centers to foster collaboration, experimentation, and storytelling. Effective centers accelerate innovation, provide a source of new ideas, enhance risk-taking, attract talent, and build an innovative culture. The document outlines best practices for success like engaging stakeholders, measuring programs, and marketing the centers. It also highlights brands like Coupons.com and eBay that are doing innovation centers well.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
