The Ticket to Work program allows individuals receiving Social Security or SSI disability benefits to work while maintaining Medicare coverage and cash benefits through work incentives. Ed Bairos was able to return to his job as a farmer and mechanic through an employment network using his Ticket. Though he suffered from arthritis and knee injuries requiring many surgeries, Bairos now earns more working than on disability benefits alone. The Ticket to Work program gave him the confidence and support to rejoin the workforce.
