Granbury ISD presented a technology plan to enhance the role of technology in curriculum design and delivery. The plan provides for network infrastructure, instructional computers, and staff development. GISD qualifies for a 60% E-Rate discount due to the number of economically disadvantaged students. Technology is used beginning in pre-K and increases in depth through high school, including computer science courses and a computer technician track. The annual technology budget is over $1 million, with the majority spent on infrastructure and teaching and learning.

This session focuses on planning and provides you with an opportunity to plan how ICT can be effectively embedded in other subject lessons. We explore how ICT can be used to support the needs of individual learners, looking specifically at its use by SEN, EAL and G&T pupils. We also look at issues around ICT and behaviour management.
Practical work explores the use of cameras and online mapping, demonstrating how ICT might be used in geography teaching.

3. Today and Tomorrow
Granbury ISD is dedicated to
providing our students with a 21st
century education where modern
technology is an intricate part of
the curriculum
4. Our Plan
The use of technology has become an indispensable
component in the classroom.
Our original plan developed in 1998 provided the
network infrastructure and instructional computers
Our current plan will enhance the role of technology
in curriculum design and delivery, provide a higher
level of staff development
5. E-Rate
Providing all of this technology is very expensive.
The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service
Fund, E-Rate, provides discounts to schools and libraries to
obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access.
41% of Granbury’s students are economically disadvantaged,
therefore we qualify for an E-Rate discount of 60%.
To qualify for E-Rate, GISD developed a technology plan GISD
Technology Plan
6. The plan includes:
Goals for using telecommunications and information
technology
A strategy for professional development
An assessment of telecommunication services,
hardware, software, and other needed services
Budget resources
Ongoing evaluation process which includes the STaR
Chart
