Measuring and Optimising Apps using Google Mobile App AnalyticsCemal Buyukgokcesu
Delivered this presentation in a Learn with Google app developer event in Istanbul in May 2014. It focuses on measuring and optimising mobile apps using insights from Google Mobile App Analytics. I talk about better segmentation by focusing on creating views (filters) and custom dimensions. I also discuss on the fly segmentation concepts like user segments, default reports & insights in Google Mobile App Analytics.
The document discusses a lung-on-a-chip microdevice that mimics a living, breathing human lung on a microchip. It provides insights into lung functions without invasive testing on living subjects. The microdevice is meant to promote more humane medical research by reducing costs and time of drug development while eliminating the need for animal and human testing.
Swedish researchers are developing a photovoltaic device using green fluorescent protein extracted from jellyfish. When exposed to ultraviolet light, the GFP absorbs photons and emits electrons, generating electricity that travels through a circuit. The goal is to create an accessible and renewable source of bio-solar power using glowing proteins from jellyfish.
A lung-on-a-chip microdevice mimics a living, breathing human lung on a microchip and provides a window into the inner workings of the human lung without invasive testing on living subjects. The document discusses how this promotes more humane medical research.

This document contrasts the characteristics of inspiring vs uninspiring leaders. Inspiring leaders believe success serves a higher purpose, focus on making others successful, feel an obligation to give back through charity work. They are grateful, care about people, spread credit, and are uplifting. Uninspiring leaders focus on personal gain, feel no obligation to help others, spread blame, and are depressing to be around. Both can motivate but inspiring leaders do so through noble goals while uninspiring leaders rely on fear and greed.
innosabi Case Study: The LIDL Fan-Yogurt - A Crowdsourcing Project by Fans fo...innosabi GmbH
This document summarizes a crowdsourcing case study conducted by the grocery store LIDL to develop a new yogurt product. LIDL utilized an online product configurator tool provided by innosabi to engage their large social media community. Over 7,500 community members submitted yogurt concepts over one month. The top ideas were voted on and tested by an expert panel. This resulted in the successful development of a new yogurt product called "Fanghurt" through crowdsourcing. The case illustrates how crowdsourcing can efficiently translate community ideas into viable products by providing a structured online platform for creativity and input.
Gold miners in New Zealand in the 1800s worked in cold, dark mines and used canaries to detect dangerous gases. They used pickaxes to extract gold from rock. A major gold discovery was made in Otago in 1861, and pickaxes helped miners find significant amounts of gold.
We will make boats out of plastic bottles to race down a river. Working in pairs, students will use materials like bottles, straws, tape, and markers to construct decorative boats. They will design their boats, hold a race, and then retrieve their boats downstream, ensuring adult supervision during the water activities.
The class investigated how much water they waste when brushing their teeth after learning about World Water Day. Five students measured the amount of water they used, which ranged from 625 ml to 6 l. On average, each student used 2.5 l per brushing. With twice daily brushing, the class wastes 155 l per day or 1085 l per week brushing their teeth by leaving the tap running. This amounts to over half a million liters wasted per year, almost as much water as the local swimming pool holds. The next step is to measure how much water could be saved by turning off the tap while brushing teeth.

Early doctors obtained medicine from plants and trees. They used tools like the wooden Mouth Gag to keep patients from talking or screaming, and the Artificial Leech to suck blood for long periods of time. Being sick in the past was likely very frightening without modern medicine and treatments.
Whalers killed whales for their meat and oil, which was used for lighting candles and food. They used harpoons attached to strong ropes to hunt whales from boats. While whaling was economically viable until 1964, many whale species are now endangered since whaling practices nearly drove them to extinction.
Whalers killed whales for their meat and oil, which they used for food and lighting before 1964. They used harpoons attached to ropes to hunt whales from boats. While whaling was economically viable, overhunting led to 7 of 13 whale species becoming endangered, so most whaling ended by 1964 to protect the species.
This document discusses fire fighting before 1900, showing a photo of the Wanganui fire fighters team from 1886 and describing a Merryweather tub built in 1850 that was shipped to Christchurch in the 1860s. As buildings got taller, fire brigades began using horse-drawn escape ladders to fight fires.
