The group was given route cards and maps to plan their path for an expedition, which involved map reading skills as they passed through farms and fields with farm animals. On one route, the group spooked some cows that began following half the group, setting them back by half an hour and causing trauma. They had pasta for dinner that evening and saw some lovely scenery, celebrating a birthday along the way.

2. First, we were given our
route cards and maps
and we had to draw the
path we would take onto
the map using the
directions on the route
card.

3. We had to do quite a lot of map
reading when we were on the
expedition.

4. We passed through lots of farms and
farmer’s fields which gave us the
opportunity to see lots of farm
animals.

5. On the dog and partridge route we had to pass
through a field full of cows. Somehow, we
managed to spook the cows and they began
following half of our group. This set back our
expedition by half an hour and caused lots of
trauma. The dog and partridge was the worst
route for our group.

6. We made pasta with
Bolognese sauce and
mince for our evening
meal.

7. There was some
lovely scenery.

8. It was Gabi’s birthday on
our second expedition!
