PURKAL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY
 It was founded by G.K. Swamy in 1978 in Purkal, Uttarakhand.
 He noticed the underprivileged children in his rural community who did not get good
employment next to their wealthier peers. He saw the area being swallowed up by poverty,
unemployment and addiction and decided to set up the initiative to give youth a future
different from their parents.
 The NGO has taught and trained hundreds of children and youth, enabling them to pursue
their dreams.
 PYDS also runs the residential accelerated learning program called Navjeevan. It has helped
95 children from 10 districts of the state.
 The On-to-Life (OTL) program of PYDS supports the students in interest free loans for higher
education. To date, 153 students have been supported through OTL.
UDAYAN CARE
 It was founded by Kiran Modi in 1994 in Delhi.
 She had the vision of ‘Making Young Lives Shine’.
 Udayan Care works to empower vulnerable children, women, and youth in 23 cities across 13
states of India.
 One of its programme is focused on providing IT and Vocational training to the youth of
underprivileged sections. It empowers them through digital literacy and job-oriented skills
training.
 Since 1994, Udayan Care has impacted the lives of over 25000 children, youth and women.
 Through their flagship programme, Udayan Ghar have impacted the lives of more than 1061
children.
 Under Udayan Shalini Fellowship, over 8326 have benefitted from the programme.
 It and Skill Development programme has touched the lives of over 15491 students and 1259
women.
NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY
The NEP 2020 highlights the need to foster ethical values such
as integrity, empathy, respect and responsibility in students
through a variety of educational experiences.
 New structure: A revamped 5+3+3+4 curriculum structure
integrates experiential and skill-based learning
 Vocational Push: BY 2025, the goal is for 50% of learners to
have vocational education exposure.
 Regional language priority: NEP encourages instruction in
regional or home languages up to Grade 5
