Custer made several critical mistakes at the Battle of the Little Bighorn that led to his defeat. He split his forces despite being outnumbered, did not wait for reinforcements as ordered, and used tactics that had previously succeeded but were ineffective against this large Indian force that was armed with superior repeating rifles. This caused Custer's group to be massacred, with around 210 men killed, as his forces were overwhelmed on the battlefield.

1) The document summarizes a research paper about the massacre at Fort Pillow during the U.S. Civil War. It discusses whether Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest directly ordered the massacre or was responsible for it occurring.
2) While it's unclear if Forrest directly ordered the massacre, the paper argues he can still be held accountable because he created an environment where atrocities were likely through his threats of "no quarter" and racism towards black soldiers.
3) The paper concludes that even if Forrest did not order the massacre, he understood the rage of his troops towards black soldiers and is responsible for not preventing what was a nearly inevitable bloodbath given the conditions he created.
The document discusses the posthumous pardons of over 300 British soldiers executed during World War I for military offenses. It provides background on four soldiers - Private Harry Farr, Private Thomas Highgate, Private Herbert Burden, and Private Bernard McGeehan - who were among those pardoned. Farr was executed in 1916 at age 25 after being diagnosed with shell shock. Highgate was the first British soldier executed for desertion in WWI. Burden lied about his age to enlist at 16 and was executed for desertion. McGeehan was executed in 1916 after being court-martialed for desertion while shell-shocked.
The document is a student essay analyzing accounts of the Boston Massacre from 1770 by Captain Preston and Robert Goddard. While their accounts differ in some details, they describe the same overall events: angry colonists gathered and threw objects at British soldiers, shots were fired into the crowd, and the soldiers then opened fire, dispersing the crowd. The essay examines inconsistencies in the accounts but concludes the basic facts are agreed upon - rising tensions led to a clash that was inevitable given the political situation in the colonies.

fight more also. Once we knew that the blacks could fight we let them fight more.

President Lincoln didn’t like the progression of the army of the Potomac so instead he ap-
pointed General Meade to take over for them so that they might actually get some where and win
the war against the traitors from the south. While that is happening Lee heard word that they
were getting closer so he decided to combine his forces. On the
third day the Army of the Potomac was atop cemetery ridge and the army of West Virginia was
about a mile away from cemetery ridge. As they came closer 9 brigades attacked the
traitors. These men were battling for their country so even for there freedom. More
than 50, 00 men were lost that day. On July 4, 1863 Lee retreated taking his
army of traitors with them. They went by wagons about a mile long with "ambulances"
stationed in the wagons (most of them) 23% of the men on the wagons didn’t even
make it to the confederate land.

don’t want and will not gpo see for your selves. This we under stand is way to dandgerous, and not worth the time of day. The
battle fo Gettysburg for instance you would have to have waited for three days before even knowing what happened. Then when
you are there there would be all kinds of dangers little

Dear Editor,
In you earlier addition you said that General Lee’s army split in to tree
parts and they won. is that the north should have won. yes the south did
have the element of suprise but, they were split into three parts! The Union
should have had the advanade because the south had to come to them.
