The Ojibwa people referred to themselves as Ojibways or Chippwas. Their name meant a type of moccasin and they were the first people in their area. They survived by fishing for fish and gathering berries. They lived in summer and winter homes and migrated between the two locations. The Ojibwa obtained food through fishing, hunting, and gathering.
