The 20th Turkmenistan international oil & gas conference was held in Ashgabat over two days with 600 delegates from 36 countries. On the first day, officials such as the Turkmenistan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil and Gas discussed Turkmenistan's role in global energy and major upcoming projects. The second day focused on investment opportunities through presentations from representatives of companies involved in Turkmenistan's oil and gas sector such as Shell and BP. Over 97% of surveyed delegates said they would attend next year's conference.

3. Event overview
The 20th Turkmenistan international oil & gas conference OGT 2015
was held on 17-18 November 2015 at the Sergi Köşgi Exhibition
Centre in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Yagshigeldy Kakayev, the newly appointed Deputy Chair of the
Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Chair of the State Agency for
Management & Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the
President of Turkmenistan, officially opened the conference with a
welcome address from the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly
Berdimuhamedov. The President stressed the role of the
conference in the oil and gas industry, saying that “The conferences
for the international business community, both those that are held
in our country and international forums abroad, give a real impetus
to projects being implemented in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas
sector.”
In addition, the President’s speech delivered important
announcements for Turkmenistan’s oil and gas: “… the East-
West Gas Pipeline will be commissioned in Turkmenistan in
December this year,” and work on the third phase of the
Galkynysh field development, one of the largest projects in
Turkmenistan’s gas sector, is scheduled to begin soon.

4. Conference
Day one commenced with Muhammetnur Halylov, Minister of Oil and
Gas Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan, leading
discussions on the role in the changing global oil and gas industry that
Turkmenistan and the wider Caspian Region play.
He was joined by Peter Kallos, CEO, Buried Hill Energy; Kirill Molodtsov,
Deputy Energy Minister of the Russian Federation; Daniel Rosenblum,
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia, Bureau of South and
Central Asian Affairs, U.S. Department of State; Denis Daniilidis, EU
Charge d’ Affairs, European Commission; The Rt Hon Charles Hendry,
Chair, Eurasia Partners; Jim Gillett, Senior Advisor, Business Development,
Gaffney, Cline & Associates and Deng Minmin, General Manager, China
National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) International Turkmenistan.

5. Day one concluded with a session led by Andrey Yakunin, Head of the Industrial Engineering Department, Turkmengazawtomatika & Krohne. Representatives from
Turkmenbashi Oil Processing Plants Holding Company, Shell, TurkmenChemistry National Petrochemical Company, GE Oil & Gas, Institute for Oil & Gas, TurkmenGas,
Petro Trade Hormozan (PTH) Iran and Air Liquide gave presentations on monetising Turkmenistan’s hydrocarbons: a Turkmenistan government priority area for
investment.
Keynote speaker Tachdurdy Begjanov, Chair, TurkmenOil National Oil Company, began day
two by highlighting the importance of international collaboration and investment
opportunities in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas industry.
He was joined by experts including: Mark McCrory, Country Chair Turkmenistan &
Regional Manager Central Asia, Shell; Atadurdy Berdiniyazov, Chair, TurkmenGeology
State Geological Company; Faisal Al Awadhi, General Manager, Turkmenistan, Dragon Oil;
Nathalie Komatitsch, Exploration and Production Vice President for Turkmenistan, Total;
Teh Yat Hong, CEO, PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd and Gregory Riley,
Exploration Manager, Caspian Region, BP.

6. The conference was followed by the 2nd session on
investment prospects and further development plans
for Turkmenistan’s oil and gas infrastructure. Keynote
speaker Ashirguly Begliyev, Chair, TurkmenGas National
Gas Company, was joined by representatives from BP,
CGG, the Institute of Geology, TurkmenGeology State
Geological Company, Fircroft Group, Weatherford Oil
Tool Middle East Ltd, Xi’an Brightway Energy
Machinery Equipment Co. Ltd and Beicip-Franlab.
