Planning for Effective Technology
Integration
Katie Martin, PhD

Framework 1: Teacher Transformation
To effectively integrate technology, the teachers
need to shift from transmitters of knowledge to:
• designers of powerful learning experiences
• sources of human, social and decisional capital in
the learning experience
• partners in learning with students, accelerated by
technology
Fullan and Langworthy (2013),
Framework 2: Innovative Teaching
and Learning
Research findings concluded that teacher innovation
flourished when teachers
• collaborated about best teaching practices
• were provided opportunities to learn and practice new
methods,
• and were guided by a common vision and continuous
support.
Innovative Teaching and Learning (2011)
Framework 3: TPACK

Mishra & Koehelr (2006)
Why Readiness Benchmarks?
• Schools and teachers are at different places on the
continuum readiness indicators
• Benchmarks allow schools and teachers to get support and
personalized professional development based on needs
• Based on schools needs, we (schools, ESS, USD, DO) will
work with the team to provide resources and support
• Readiness indicators are categorized by school and
individual teachers
