European footwear is much more classic. If you don't want to stand out as "American," skip the white tennis shoes (bowling-style sneakers like Sketchers "Kindred" would be acceptable, and are comfortable). In Europe they tend to wear less "loud" clothing. By this I mean that in the US we wear clothes that say Hollister or Michigan State across the front where they don't. They keep it more fashionable and less advertising. Also they tend to wear tigher fitting clothing. We also tend to carry everything with us when we go somewhere. So if you don't want to look like a tourist than don't: -Wear baggy clothes -Wear clothes that have names of stores in large print on the front. -Carry your whole life with you in your bag.
