Northern Ireland remains in political deadlock as negotiations to restore devolved government continue for a fifth day. Talks between the main political parties of Sinn Féin, the DUP, SDLP and Alliance are ongoing but no agreement has been reached yet to end the impasse over welfare reform that led to the suspension of the power-sharing executive in January. The UK government maintains that an agreement must be found soon to avoid direct rule being reimposed from London.
