The New 7 Wonders of the World were announced on July 7, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal after a 7 year global campaign to determine the new wonders. The 7 sites chosen were the Great Wall of China, Petra, Chichen Itza, Christ the Redeemer, the Colosseum, Machu Picchu, and the Taj Mahal. They were selected based on over 100 million votes from around the world and are considered equal with no ranking.
