The world’s forests have shrunk from 11.4 to 7.4 sq. km per year per 1000 people since 1970. The loss is concentrated in developing countries , mostly to meet the demand for the industrialized world. Source: United Nations RAPIDLY ACCELERATING BIODIVERSITY LOSS Every 20 minutes, the world adds another 3500 human lives but loses one or more entire species of animal or plant life – at least 27000 species per year . This is a rate & scale of extinction that has not occurred in 65 million years! We have lost more than one-quarter of the planet’s birds. Two-thirds of the major marine fisheries are fully exploited, over-exploited or depleted .
Total Global Population Estimated to reach 9.2 Bn by 2050 Source: United Nations
A Serious Problem of Equitable & Sustainable Growth Is There A Solution?
Can we build an intelligent planet with…

The Technology Triad
NASSCOM Believes Technology (Particularly IT) Plays A Major Role In Shaping The New World
Global Engineering R&D spend surpassed USD 1 trillion in 2009 & is expected to touch ~USD 1.4 trillion by 2020 Trends Driving Investment in R&D Increasing use of electronics Fuel efficiency/ Alternate fuels Convergence of technologies Products for local markets NASSCOM and Booz & Co. Analysis We Should Invest USD 2.8 trillion by 2020!!
NASSCOM Engineering Forum’s Vision Building talent Helping create an ecosystem for engineering future Creating an environment where innovation can flourish
WE BRING TO YOU Visions for a smarter world Best practices of the world Perspectives from different industries
AT THE EVENT, WE DISCUSSED Technologies Underlying processes Steps from Engineering to Manufacturing Global engineering processes and R&D
Improving Cost Effectiveness & Efficiency of R&D Trends in Global R&D Design Capabilities in Manufacturing Ecosystem Made-in-India jet aircraft Moving to Outcome Based Models Supply Chains to Supply Networks Deep Dive Incubators Engineering the Talent Pool Strategies to Accelerating Innovation
Thank You!
