Structural design of a six-story reinforced concrete hospital building following ACI 318-11.
The framing arrangement and column locations of the building were provided based on
architectural and structural requirements. The structure system of the hospital building is frame with
one-way slabs, two-way slabs and beam floor system. Ordinary moment frames were used
to resist gravity loads and ordinary shear walls to resist lateral loads (seismic loads according to IBC
2003). Design loads were in accordance to ASCE7 and Structural drawings and project specifications
for elements such as beams, girders, columns, walls, and foundations were based on ACI 315-99 for
Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcement.
Training
Eight weeks of training with HAE "Hussein Atieh & Sons Co." for a construction of pump
Station and reservoir project at Arusiefeh, Jordan.
Three months of training on using the best ways to design the structural elements manually and by
using CSI programs, how to choose the most suitable structural systems for different types of
structures, how to make my own pen assignment in AutoCAD to produce clear shopdrawings, how to
check the results of structural analysis programs and how to make suitable model for different
structural components.
