Arguably the best player of all time,
Michael Jordan promotes Gatorade on
the company’s 50th anniversary, as
well as his birthday; with that said,
visual repetition of the product, a
display of diversity, and a strong sense
of community are utilized to sell the
product – celebrity endorsement was
used because America idolizes Jordan’s
athletic ability, work ethic, and grasp
of the American Dream; Turning
childhood dreams into reality.
Commercial Significance
 Combination of song, diversity, community
presence shown, and greatness on the court
shows that it was a smart idea to utilize
celebrity status to push the Gatorade brand
forward.
 Michael Jordan made people of all ages , and
backgrounds believe in their own American
Dream
 Michael Jordan was the first athletic endorser
of Gatorade
 The commercial Be like Mike represents not
only the treatment of the game, but the
treatment of yourself, and people around you
that are different .
I challenge everyone to “ Be Like Mike” Not only in
the sense of chasing a dream, but treatment of others
and working hard to make individuals dream come
true, no matter what they may be.

Carolina where he won a National
Championship
 Drafted by the Chicago Bulls, and
won six NBA championships
 Michaels athletic abilities defied
the laws of physics with high-
flying dunks, impeccable defense,
and ability to shoot from nearly
anywhere on the court.
 Inducted into Naismith Basketball
Hall of Fame in 2009. Highest
honor in basketball
Fact: Michael Jordan is the only player to
score 3000 points in a single season since
Wilt Chamberlain

Gatorade’s AmericanDream
Gatorade went from a creation by four
doctors in a small university lab, to a
nationally accredited brand for all sports
, ages, and genders to improve sports
performance.
