SolarCoin is a cryptocurrency designed to promote solar energy, where one megawatt hour (MWh) of energy produced equates to one SolarCoin (SLR). Owners of solar facilities can receive SLR for verified energy production, and the currency is intended to support a global solar economy that spans 68 countries. Since January 1, 2010, over 11 terawatt hours of solar energy have been incentivized with SolarCoin.
