L.A. County Employee Volunteer Information
As a Medical Services/Healthy Athletes volunteer,
you will provide medical assistance to Special
Olympics athletes during the games. These
volunteers help with health screenings and provide
care to athletes both on and off the field of play.
Volunteer opportunities in high demand are:
• Nurses • Dermatology Nurses
• Nursing Students • Physical Education Professionals
• Nutritionists • Registered Dieticians
County employees can volunteer for the World Games
on County time with a manager’s prior approval.
MEDICAL SERVICES/HEALTHY ATHLETES
Volunteer Requirements:
› Available at least 3 days,
does not have to be consecutive;
› Pass a background check;
› Complete online and
attend on-site training; and
› A medical professional

To Volunteer on County Time
1. Visit mylacounty.gov and click the
Special Olympics World Games 2015 image.
2. Review the information provided on the page.
3. Click the “Apply to Volunteer
on County Time” button.
4. Complete the application and only select the
days for which you want to volunteer on County
time and need approval from your manager.
5. Your manager will approve or
disapprove your application and
further instruction will be provided.
To Volunteer on Your Own Time
1. Visit mylacounty.gov and click the
Special Olympics World Games 2015 image.
2. Review the information provided on the page.
3. Click the “Medical Services/Healthy
Athletes Volunteer Application” button.
4. Complete the World Games Medical Services/
Healthy Athletes Volunteer Application.
5. The World Games will contact you
with further information .
