Skin Rejuvenation FAQ’s Q: How does it work? A : A light signal is sent to the body’s collagen production system, this then enhances the rate at which the collagen is produced. Additionally, irregular pigmentation absorbs the light and some of the melanin producing cells are disabled thus evening out skin color. Finally, fine vessels that have become apparent at the skin surface can absorb the light and be reduced.

Q: What areas can be treated? A: This procedure works well over the face, neck, chest, legs, arms and back of the hand. The McCue Ultra™ System can also improve the appearance of thread veins, scars and pink stretch marks.

Q: Are there any side-effects? A: During your consultation, your laser consultant will fully explain the process, expectations and cost of the treatments and will also advise you of any risks associated with this treatment.

Q: How many treatments does it require? A: In most cases you will see a result after 4 - 6 treatments but there is a significant improvement if the treatment is repeated at regular intervals. There is no limit to the amount of treatments you can undergo.

Q: How do I know if it has worked? A: Your fully trained operator will be looking for specific reactions when undergoing a treatment. However, due to many interrelated physiological factors every individual reacts differently. The initial treatment will gauge what energy densities can be used to ensure an effective treatment. A review date will be set to assess the effectiveness of the treatments and then to make any amendments as required to the treatment protocol.

Q: When will I see results? A: As the improvement is gradual you will not see the result for about three months. Because you see yourself everyday it is difficult for you to see gradual improvements taking place. Thus, it is very important that good clinical photos are taken before the treatment and then at the review of three months, this will then display the improvement. Collagen can take up to nine months to fully mature so gradual improvements will continue over this time. Individual results may vary.

Q: How often do I need treating? A: After the initial treatment it is advisable to have a second treatment two to four weeks later. Depending upon age, severity of the condition being treated or amount of exposure to the sun, it may be advisable to have a course of treatments over a period of a year.

Q: How many treatments can I have? A: There is no maximum amount of treatments that can be undertaken; this can be seen as an ongoing skin care program .

Q: How long do the effects last? A: This depends on your lifestyle. However, improvements can continue over several months. The consultation with a fully trained operator will provide you with a skin care regimen that will help maintain improvements.

Q: Who can be treated? A: The ideal age range for this treatment would be anybody up to the age of 60 years old. If you have a suntan it is advisable to wait until you are back to your base color before undergoing treatment.

Hair removal FAQ’s Q: How does it work? A: Melanin in the hair absorbs the light and is heated to a temperature that permanently inhibits the hairs’ growth

Q: What areas can be treated? A: Unwanted hair can be removed from most parts of the body, including legs, chin, upper lip, face, bikini line, underarm, back and chest. This is an alternative to waxing, threading, sugaring and electrolysis.

Q: How many treatments does it require? A: Light based treatments only work on hair that is in the active growing, or Anagen, phase. At any given time, only about 25% of the hair on our body is in the appropriate stage (phase) for treatment. The other 75% cannot be affected by light treatments. That is why it is necessary to perform multiple treatments. Persistent hair growth areas may require touch-ups.

Q: When will I see results? A: Dependent upon the area treated, results will be noticed after a series of treatments over a period of months. This is due to the body’s natural hair growth cycles. There is no ‘magic wand’ that will make everything perfect, but a good skincare regimen that is devised in conjunction with your therapist will ensure the optimum results that you desire.

After a full consultation with a trained nurse, a comprehensive treatment program is developed to match your needs and requirements. All patients receive a skin patch test prior to treatment. Depending upon which treatments are to be undertaken the basic procedure will stay the same: the area to be treated will be prepared and the applicator head will be stepped across to ensure complete coverage.
