The Blessed Man – Free
From Performance Based
Christianity – Part 2
Romans 4:6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the
man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:

7

“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;

8

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.”
Romans 4:13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the
world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but
through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the
law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no
effect, 15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there is
no law there is no transgression.

16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so
that the promise might be sure to all the seed,
Romans 4:14 For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is
made void and the promise made of no effect…

Andrew Wommack Ministries Bible Commentary:

Note 2 at Ro 4:14: We are either justified by faith in our
works without faith in Christ or we are justified by faith in Christ
without faith in our works, but not a combination of the two (Ro
11:6).Trusting in our own goodness as the reason that God
would grant us salvation neutralizes faith and renders God's
promise to Abraham useless…
Andrew Wommack Ministries Bible Commentary:

There are Christians who have put their faith in Christ for their
eternal salvation, but then they fall back into the deception that
God is going to bless them and use them based on their
performance. This is what happened to the Galatians. Paul told
them that Christ had become of no benefit to them if they were
trusting in what they did in order to be justified with God (Ga
5:4). Likewise today, many Christians do not experience the full
effect of their salvation because they are making faith void by
trusting in their own goodness.
Galatians 4:21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do
you not hear the law? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two
sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman.
23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the
flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things
are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from
Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— 5 for
this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem
which now is, and is in bondage with her children—26 but the
Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of
promise. 29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then
persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is
now. 30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the
bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not
be heir with the son of the freewoman.” 31 So then, brethren, we
are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
Genesis 20:2 Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife,“She is my
sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah…

6 And God said to him in a dream,“Yes, I know that you did this
in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning
against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. 7 Now
therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will
pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her,
know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”
Genesis 20:14 Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and
female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored
Sarah his wife to him. 15 And Abimelech said,“See, my land is
before you; dwell where it pleases you.” 16 Then to Sarah he
said,“Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of
silver; indeed this vindicates you before all who are with you and
before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked. 17 So Abraham prayed
to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female
servants. Then they bore children; 18 for the Lord had closed up
all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah,
Abraham’s wife.
Genesis 21:11 And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and
the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived
and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which
God had spoken to him…

8 So the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great
feast on the same day that Isaac was weaned.
Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be
teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles
of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not
solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled
in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
Galatians 4:1 Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child,
does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, 2 but
is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the
father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage
under the elements of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the
time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born
under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that
we might receive the adoption as sons.

6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His
Son into your hearts, crying out,“Abba, Father!” 7 Therefore you
are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God
through Christ.
Genesis 21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian,
whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing. 10 Therefore she said
to Abraham,“Cast out this bondwoman and her son; for the son
of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, namely with
Isaac.”

14 So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a
skin of water; and putting it on her shoulder, he gave it and the
boy to Hagar, and sent her away. Then she departed and
wandered in the Wilderness of Beersheba.
Genesis 21:15 And the water in the skin was used up, and she
placed the boy under one of the shrubs. 16 Then she went and
sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for
she said to herself,“Let me not see the death of the boy.”
Genesis 21:22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech
and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham,
saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest:

23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt
not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son:
but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou
shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned.
Genesis 21:25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a
well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken
away.

32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech
rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they
returned into the land of the Philistines.
Romans 4:13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the
world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but
through the righteousness of faith. ..

16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that
the promise might be sure to all the seed,
Stop trying to “deserve” the blessings of Abraham.

When you know you are righteous by faith, and not
on your performance, the blessings are sure.

You are a son and and heir. You are part of an
unbreakable covenant.
