1. ISU Turf Club Master’s Pool
You are invited to participate in the first annual Iowa State Turf Club Master’s pool.
The turf program at Iowa State has a long tradition of excellence. A cornerstone of
that excellence is helping students afford trips to the two major turf conferences of
the year (STMA and GCSAA). At these conferences students are allowed the ability
to network with future employers, compete in the annual TurfBowl competition,
learn from the best turf professors in the industry, and quite simply get a taste of
what a real life job entails. The reason this trip is so affordable is because of the
efforts made by of our students during the academic year. Various turf jobs,
fertilizer and pesticide applications, and fundraisers like these fuel our student’s
trips to these conferences. We thought a fundraiser that entails our very profession
greatly, would be a great idea. Half of the entry fee will go to the Turf Club to fund
functions such as these conferences. Keep in mind, the more people we have the
better the payout will be. Please feel free to share this with fellow colleagues,
professionals, Iowa State alumni, family, and friends all are welcome to compete!
Rules: Each entry is $20 with half of the proceeds going to the Turf Club. 1st prize
will take home 60%, 2nd place 25%, and 3rd place 15% of the money not already
allotted to the Turf Club. Participants will choose 1 player from the A Pool, 1 player
from the B Pool, 1 player from the C Pool, and 1 player from the D Pool. A wildcard
will also be given to each participant that can be selected from any of the groups,
making a total of 5 overall picks. Upon completion of the tournament, money totals
from each team will be added up and the participant with the most player winnings
will win. In the event of a tie, whichever participant’s D Pool player did better will
be crowned champion. In the event of a remaining tie still, the final round score of
the participant’s Pool B player will be used. Every participant should not only
submit their pick from each pool, but also provide a reserve pick for each pool as
well. The reserve pick will be used if a player withdraws BEFORE the tournament.
Deadline: Thursday, April 11 at 7:00 A.M.

Please include your email with your picks so that we can send a copy of everyone’s
picks.
Money or checks can be given to any Turf Club member. Checks need to be made
out to ISU Turf Club. If you are out of town, a paypal transaction can be made to turf
club treasurer, Andrew Doyle (rangersrhp17@gmail.com), or a check can be mailed
to 106 Horticulture Hall addressed to the Turf Club.
