Mandy and her owner Jim go for an evening jog by the sea. A large wave crashes and Mandy's leash breaks, causing her to run away. Jim searches for Mandy but cannot find her. Mandy is scared and lost without Jim. She rests on a park bench exhausted. The next day, a man finds Mandy on the bench and is leading her on a leash when Mandy spots Jim and runs to him joyfully. They are happily reunited.

1. Mandy’s Adventures

The night was cold and bitter. A man and his dog Mandy were out for an evening jog, loving
listening to the waves whispering together and tasting the salty flavour of the sea. Mandy was
happy to be out exploring until a huge wave came.
CRASH! The man dropped Mandy’s lead and she ran away, disappearing into the distance. The
man protected himself from the wave. He was shocked and so sodden. The pounding waves
roared to his right as he hurried away.
Suddenly he looked down at his feet. Where was Mandy? The man looked everywhere for her.
He looked behind him but all he could see were the twinkling bright lights far away. There was
no sign of Mandy. The man was worried and sad. As he walked along he forgot about the wave.
All he worried about was Mandy. The thrashing waves were still beating against the boardwalk
and when the man turned to look at the ocean he wondered if Mandy was still alive. He stood
there waiting for any sound, but the only noises to be heard were the crashing waves. The man
sighed. Was he ever going to see Mandy again?
Mandy was panicking as she raced along the boardwalk. The huge wave had hit her, and her
golden fur was wet with salty sea water. She didn’t like the sea grass stuck behind her ears, and
Mandy shook herself to flick it off. Her heart was beating as loud as a drum. She was painting
and her tongue was hanging out of her mouth. Mandy kept running until she could no longer
hear the breaking waves. She was so exhausted she walked to a chestnut coloured bench,
jumped up and lay down for a rest. Mandy rested for quite a while. When she finally woke up,
she wanted to go back home But where was Jim? Mandy barked for ages, but no one came.
Jim began to call frantically. He was rushing here and there, whistling for Mandy. Jim raced off
in the direction Mandy had gone, but he couldn’t find her. After several hours of searching he
went home, hoping Mandy had found her way there.
The next morning there was still no sign of Mandy. It was sunny and calm so Jim went back to
the beach for a swim. But where was his Mandy” As Jim neared the boardwalk he saw a man
was leading a dog. When the dog spotted Jim, it started jumping and yaping, leaping towards
Jim. He knew it was his Mandy as he sprinted towards her. The leash dropped and Mandy
barked and jumped all over Jim. She covered Jim with sloppy doggy kisses. The man explained
to Jim how he had found Mandy on a bench in a park. H knew Mandy had found her owner so
she was delighted.
Jim and Mandy celebrated by splashing and laughing in the cooling water.
