1. Man City vs. Paris Saint-Germain
Manchester City host French Champions Paris Saint-Germain in their quarter-
final second leg in the Champions League on Tuesday.
With the first leg finishing 2-2, City look in contention to progress into their first
ever Champions League semi-final.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side left Paris quietly confident that they would be able to see
off PSG and reach the last four. Man City who will have home advantage going
into this crucial match, will be hoping to stop danger man Zlatan Ibrahimovic
from adding another goal to his ever-growing tally of 48 goals in 118
appearances.
City’s defence may be put into question as it was announced defender and
captain Vincent Kompany will not be fit for the game, this causes a selection
issue for Pellegrini who was hoping for a full squad to choose from.
Man City head into this game after a nervy Premier League 2-1 win at home to
West Bromwich Albion. Pellegrini left out Sergio Aguero ahead of the Champions
League tie.
On the other hand PSG who are already crowned French Champions had a
comfortable 2-0 away win at Guingamp. Laurent Blanc’s men are fully focused on
a Champions League victory and come to Manchester with a strong squad.
Heading into the game all eyes will be on the team’s attacking options, with
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero the two sides star men.
The 2-2 score line gives Man City the slight edge but nothing can be taken for
granted with both teams possessing top level fire power.
Neither team has ever made it to the Semi-finals of the Champions League but
one team will have to progress at the Etihad.
Team News:
The big news is that Man City captain and defender Vincent Kompany is ruled
out for the game due to not being 100% fit.
The news come a day before the match, Man City’s has come under some
scrutiny recently for their defensive capabilities.
Samir Nasri is ineligible to play and Raheem Sterling remains sidelined through
injury. But there is positive news on the fitness of Nicolas Otamendi.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc will have to do without David Luiz and Blaise Matuidi
who are both suspended, other than that Laurent Blanc arrives in Manchester
with a full fit squad.
