This document discusses the benefits of silence based on teachings from ancient Sanskrit texts. It provides several reasons why silence is recommended during certain activities like defecation, urination, sexual intercourse, bleeding, cleaning teeth, and eating. Silence allows one to focus on internal processes and avoid external distractions. It is seen as a preliminary step toward achieving true inner silence and peace. Maintaining silence can also provide practical benefits, as inappropriate speech can lead to problems while silence allows one to remain free. Overall, the document emphasizes that our ancestors understood the importance of regulating speech and embracing silence.
Diabetes can cause neuropathy or disturbances to the nervous system, which can lead to bizarre symptoms like giddiness. Giddiness experienced by diabetics can vary from minor to frightening. The complications of diabetes and misinformation about them can further disturb those affected. Repeating a mantra or name of God (Namasmarn) and drinking water to induce vomiting may help alleviate symptoms of giddiness in some cases. Long term, vitamins B, C and herbal supplements like chyavanprash may strengthen the nervous system. While feeling helpless is common, focusing on God's name through Namasmarn may help deal with difficult mental states for some people.
1) Prayer is meant to catalyze the culmination of any work in complete satisfaction and global welfare.
2) The essence of worshipping Lord Ganesha is that he represents the experience of enlightenment and cosmic oneness with one's inner and outer environment.
3) It is customary to pray to Lord Ganesha before starting any work because realizing truth is necessary for accurate vision, decision making, and successful action. These prayers provide holistic health or self-realization.

Meditation is not harmful, but is instead a natural stage of inner growth and blossoming that occurs through holistic personal and social development. [1] Proper meditation happens as a result of addressing physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs, and through implementing solutions to individual and social problems. [2] What some practice as "meditation" without this holistic growth can be harmful and cause misery. [3] True meditation is an evolved state achieved through Total Stress Management and practices like NAMASMARAN.
Holistic Education, Economy And Health Drdocjyotib
The document discusses holistic education and its benefits for the economy, health, and reducing stress. It argues that mainstream education focuses too much on superficial goals and neglects students' spiritual and productive development. A more holistic approach integrating a productive domain like crafts, skills, or agriculture into 25% of school time could help make education accessible to all by reducing costs and student stress while preventing issues like dropout rates and unemployment. This holistic model emphasizing self-sufficiency and practical skills could help address global problems like poverty and social strife.
Anusandhan is a state of being connected to one's true self, which traditions identify as God as inspired by the Guru. This state has surpassed subjective prejudices and is associated solely with global welfare. It has no petty pursuits or mean considerations, and is an objective state that has a benevolent effect of facilitating freedom for the entire universe. Anusandhan can also be considered the state of ultimate freedom in the truest sense.

This document provides an overview of holistic treatment options for neck and back pain authored by Dr. Shriniwas Janardan Kashalikar. It discusses the concept of holistic health and total stress management. It then provides remedies and techniques from Ayurveda, Allopathy, exercise, diet, posture, utilities, morning ablutions, body movements, yoga, massage, homeopathy, and osteopathy to treat neck and back pain holistically. The most important healing principle, according to the author, is to practice Namsmaran daily.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like depression and anxiety.

1) Namasmaran, or the remembrance of God's name, is proposed as a way to unite the spiritual and practical aspects of life that are currently experienced as separate.
2) It works by reorienting the physiological self with the true self through remembering God or a guru as a symbol of the true self.
3) This allows individual consciousness from every activity to funnel into cosmic consciousness, making namasmaran a culmination or "yoga of yoga" that can benefit people of any tradition.

The document discusses an evolution in the concept of health from a personal goal to a global aspiration. It argues that equating health with just physical health is inadequate and fails to appeal to creative individuals, and that focusing only on economic impacts of illness also falls short. True health involves the mind, intelligence, and society. The author proposes that "superhealth" envisions sharing spiritual experiences and material abundance with billions around the world in a way that uplifts humanity.
The document discusses the agony and misery caused by pain, sorrow, conflict, feelings of absurdity, and the awareness of impermanence. These dark forces can possess anyone regardless of their status and will affect everyone at some point. While Namasmaran is proposed as a solution, the author admits they have not yet experienced freedom from these dark forces or the envisioned "SUPERJOY." The author speculates that if billions of people practice Namasmaran together, it may lead to experiencing this SUPERJOY.
Holistic Approach To Saving Energy Dr Shriiwas Kashalikardocjyotib
1. The document discusses holistic approaches to saving energy, including switching off electronics when not in use, using stairs instead of elevators, and walking instead of driving for short trips.
2. It also discusses the practice of "Namasmaran", which involves remembering the name of God, gurus, or other spiritual figures, as a way to reunify one's physiological and true spiritual selves.
3. Namasmaran is described as a meditation practice that allows one to realize their cosmic consciousness and rise above worldly concerns. Regular practice is recommended to understand its benefits.
The document discusses whether humans are helplessly controlled by their hormones and neurotransmitters or if they can gain freedom from this influence. It questions if current laws and environments support emancipation from being controlled by bodily chemicals. The author suggests that it is worthwhile to review whether people are truly helpless prisoners of their body's hormones and neurotransmitters or if creating the right intellectual, political, and material conditions could help free people from this perceived helplessness.
The document summarizes Dr. Shriniwas Kashalikar's experience managing his diabetes through supportive therapies in addition to medications. His blood sugar levels were not improving with medications alone. Through the practice of "Namasmarn", remembering God, he was able to overcome fear and anxiety about diabetes. As a result, he adopted a healthier lifestyle with changes like exercising, herbal remedies, and a positive mindset. This led to a significant improvement in his blood sugar levels allowing him to reduce his medications. While not a guarantee for all, he believes focusing on supportive therapies through a positive approach can help manage diabetes.
Dr. Shriniwas Kashalikar discusses the benefits of head massage with coconut oil. He used to dislike oiling the head due to stickiness and stains, but now massages his head daily with coconut oil. The massage exercises his arms and reduces dryness in his palms. He can stroll or watch TV during the massage to save time. Afterward, a warm or cold bath provides a refreshing and rejuvenating experience. Based on his own positive experience, Dr. Kashalikar believes traditional massage techniques deserve respect in mainstream medicine worldwide.
The document discusses two main points. First, people tend to see problems everywhere and come up with solutions, believing their solutions will create lasting change and harmony, but they fail to address the root issues. Second, people tend to exclude themselves and demand change from others while ignoring their own flaws. However, the author argues that transcending the subjective desire for perfection through meditation and focusing on our shared humanity can help us realize and manifest the potential for freedom that already exists. Practicing meditation collectively could help realize a shared freedom for all.

Gizmo, the author's Labrador dog, brought immense love and joy to their home. His presence and gestures exuded affection for the family without words. Freedom of conscience is rarely discussed but is important for overcoming problems in human life. While political and economic freedoms have been gained in many places, people still experience turmoil due to intolerant attitudes and malignant interests. Laws, traditions, and media sometimes restrict our conscience. However, the global conscience can be freed through the practice of Namasmaran by billions of people. Namasmaran means remembering the name of God or a guru through practices like chanting or meditation. It allows us to reconnect with our true selves and achieve unity of individual and cosmic consciousness.
The author felt suffocated by concepts of God that demanded unquestioning surrender and challenged individual freedom. However, through practicing Namasmaran - remembering divine names - the author realized there is no need to believe or disbelieve in God. Namasmaran can be practiced like daily habits and leads to objective changes in individuals and the universe becoming self-evident. Prejudices about theists and atheists also disappear through Namasmaran.
Life manifests through cells, organs, systems and organisms in various ways such as movements, emotions, thoughts and theories. It manifests through both tender love and brutal rage, as well as maniacal plans and melancholic deeds. Neither are humans completely right or wrong, but simply exist as life continues to manifest through them. The question is how to merge with the root of life itself, with the idea of merging also arising from life. 2. It is interesting to see how speech
reflects the mind of a person and in
turn how regulation of the process of
speech has beneficial influence on
mind!
One of the shlokas (verses in Sanskrut)
says,
3. PAPENAIVA NRUNAANAM
VAANEE BHAVET
KATUKABHASHINEE
DAINYA MAATSARYA
PARAMAA
SHUBHAASHUBHAVIVARJITA
Meaning:
It is because of diseased mind with
utmost lowliness and jealousy that the
speech becomes scalding with no
concern whatsoever for about the
welfare or otherwise of the listener.
In Geeta it is said,
4. ANUDVEGAKARAM VAAKYAM
SAYAM PRIYA HITAN CHA YAT
SVAADHYAAYAABHYASAN
CHAIVA VANGMAYM TAPA
UCCHYATE
GEETA 17.15
Meaning:
Speech which does not humiliate and
thereby hurt the listener is true and
pleasant and beneficial; is really the
product of penance involving the entire
neurophysiological and neuromuscular
processes of speech and articulation
respectively.
5. There is another shloka which
advocates silence during certain
physiological acts.
UTSARGE MAITHUNE CHAIVA
PRASTRAVE DANTADHAAVNE
SHRAADDHE BHOJANAKALE
CHA
SHATSU MAUNAM
SAMAACHARET
Meaning:
During defecation, urination, removal
of secretions (dirt) of nose, skin, ear
and eyes, during sexual intercourse,
6. during bleeding, cleaning of teeth,
during SHRAADDHA (ritual
performed to commemorate pay
homage to the forefathers, on the
occasion their death anniversary) and
while eating food one should observe
silence i.e. speechlessness.
During defecation usually there is
breath holding and contraction of
abdominal muscles. This is essential
for building adequate pressure in the
abdomen so as to move the feces
towards anus. Due to talking the breath
holding ceases and the abdominal
7. muscles also relax and distraction is
caused creating difficulty in
defecation.
Urination also involves increase in
pressure in the abdomen and also in
the urinary bladder. Talking can alter
these pressures and hence the urinary
flow can be disturbed.
When we are removing the secretions
from nose [respiratory secretions],
skin, ears and eyes we should be
careful to remove the dirt carefully so
as to avoid trauma to theses structures
8. In general, all the excretory processes,
viz. defecation, urination, respiratory
secretions, sweating, secretions in the
ear and eye involve autonomic nervous
activity linked with reticular formation
in the brain. Talking can alter
respiration, activity of reticular
formation, and activity of mind,
autonomic nervous activity, endocrine
and metabolic activity and also the
excretory activity.
Sexual intercourse invariably involves
autonomic activity and hence it is
9. strongly recommended that silence is
observed during sexual intercourse. It
is important because the intensity of
the emotional integration and depth of
ecstasy are apparently hindered due to
talking during sexual intercourse.
Bleeding can either be physiological
bleeding as in case of menstrual
bleeding or trauma [injury].
The process of bleeding and arrest of
bleeding are tremendously influenced
by cardiovascular activity, which in
turn is influenced by autonomic
10. nervous activity. Hence talking that
disturbs autonomic activity is
recommended to be avoided.
During cleaning of the teeth there is a
prayerful attitude with respect to the
plants or herbs used in the process. So
talking is avoided. But from practical
point of view, talking during cleaning
of teeth and gums can cause
inadvertent biting of fingers or injury
to the oral cavity.
During SHRAADDHA silence is
probably advised solely for
11. maintaining pious atmosphere, which
is understandable.
During eating the silence advised to
avoid vulgar and even mundane
thoughts being articulated [thereby
hindering the sanctity of the eating] on
the one hand and to avoid accidental
regurgitation of food in the trachea on
the other.
It can be seen how thoughtful our
ancestors were; with respect to
understanding of life! It has to be
appreciated these are relatively
12. superficial aspects of keeping silence.
There may be more explanations as
well.
Learning to keep silence in terms of
avoiding talk is a very preliminary
process of achieving real silence,
which is called KARMANI AKARMA
in Geeta [4.18], and which is full of
peace and activity. It is very real and
deepest personal experience and also
the cosmic phenomenon that links one
with the universe.
14. If we keep quiet for sometime, then we
can easily observe the turbulence of
thoughts, which keep on crowding our
minds. This observation tells us that
the thoughts are neither our creation
nor are restricted to our body. They are
the results of the interactions between
cosmos and us and illustrate the
continuity between an individual and
the universe.
Keeping silence has a humorous and
practical implication also.
15. AATMANO MUKHADOSHENA
BADHYANTE SHUKA SAARIKA
BAKASTATRA NA BDHYANTE
MAUNAM SARVAARTHA
SAADHANAM
Meaning:
Inappropriate [too long, too harsh,
stupid, meaningless, too enticing]
speech is a cause of slavery,
imprisonment or other type of losses.
Ability to remain silent is extremely
beneficial. This is clear from the
examples of SAARIKA and parrot that
are caught and kept in cage whereas
crane is left free! Hence while
16. negotiating in business or in politics or
even playing cards, silence can play a
pivotal role!
DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
