This document discusses the transformation of low-cost private schools in developing countries and emerging economies. It notes that while poor parents are increasingly using these schools, the standards are generally higher than government schools but still not high enough. It then outlines the story of one private school network in India called Sodha Schools that was facing challenges with parents and teachers leaving. The school's leader called a meeting and told staff they needed to change in order to survive. This led to extensive teacher training programs, introducing technology, standardizing pedagogy and assessments, and creating a national school alliance network, transforming the schools into ones that are replicable, scalable and sustainable at a larger level.
The Belgrade City Library conducted workshops in Serbia and neighboring Balkan countries to promote the LoCloud platform. They held 5 workshops with 121 participants from libraries, museums, and archives. The workshops covered using LoCloud tools like Omeka for digital collections. They plan to continue advocacy and support other institutions, with a goal of a national aggregator in Serbia by the end of 2016.
The document discusses the Di-XL lifelong learning project between organizations and libraries. The project aims to jointly serve customers through a six step process of analysis, development, testing, and publication of a learning model. Examples are provided of how the model has been implemented and tips are shared for skills staff will need, with the overall goal of disseminating and exploring lifelong learning opportunities through libraries.
The document describes the transformation of schools over time. It discusses the journey from 1986 in Old City Hyderabad to 2013 in Pune. It operated a total of 8 schools, including 3 high schools and 5 elementary schools, educating over 4,000 students. On average, 85% of students graduated from secondary school each year since 2000. The document also discusses school leadership and engaging parents, teachers, and students to achieve educational aims. It focuses on sharing vision, giving ownership, professional development, communication, and involvement in decision making.
The document is about Predrag Đukić and the Belgrade City Library. It contains two short phrases, "Predrag Đukić" and "Biblioteka grada Beograda", which when translated to English are "Predrag Đukić" and "Belgrade City Library".

This document discusses how early childhood learning benchmarks can be taught through arts activities. It provides examples of three sample activities - a visual art activity incorporating coloring and cutting, a music activity involving passing instruments to rhythms, and an interactive storytelling activity using movement. Each activity is designed to target specific benchmarks like fine motor skills, language skills, social skills, and more. The document also provides supplemental information on how the arts stimulate brain growth, can help with healing, and engage both rational and emotional thinking in children.
This document discusses teaching values in the classroom. It begins by asking teachers to consider what the world looks like currently and may look like 40-50 years in the future. Challenges facing the world like poverty, environmental destruction, and failing democracies are highlighted. The document then asks teachers to identify specific values they want to prioritize for students, like responsibility and citizenship. It provides examples of teaching values intrinsically and extrinsically, and suggests using performance tasks that integrate values with academic content. Teachers are asked to discuss potential performance tasks they could create for their own classrooms. The document emphasizes finding ways to ensure students value the priceless.
