‘Living Legends’
A commemorative ANZAC community research project,
documenting the lives of our Kenmore/Moggill soldiers.
Task:
Based upon historical research, each student will construct a historical biography of a soldier from the
Kenmore-Moggill district who served his/her country. This fits in with ‘the impact of significant
developments on a colony’. Selected students will be nominated by their class teacher to participate in
writing workshops based at Kenmore High School. This will culminate in the presentation of the
recounts within a community book publication that will be presented to the Kenmore-Moggill
community to commemorate the 2015 centenary of the 1915 Gallipoli landings, showcasing your
unique work and historical record of your research that will become an historical artefact in and of
itself, for future generations.

Technique/Genre: ‘Adopt a Digger’ Commemorative Research Partnership
Task:
Based upon historical research, you are to construct a historical biography of a soldier who served
his/her country from the Kenmore-Moggill district.
You will undertake a comprehensive research-based inquiry to construct an account of the unique
story of a Digger by constructing a ‘living history narrative’.
You will research and inquire as to the background and circumstances surrounding the soldier’s life,
including prior to enlistment, active duty, and the aftermath of the soldier’s service on the immediate
family members. This will involve the collation of historical evidence such photos, first-hand
accounts, letters, newspaper and military records that supports and demonstrates your analysis and
findings.
You will develop a contextualised historical empathy as you uncover the lives and events of your
chosen soldier across the generations.
All students who receive an A for the written historical narrative will be eligible for selection in the to
present their work in a community book publication that will be presented to the Kenmore-Moggill
community to commemorate the 2015 centenary of the 1915 Gallipoli landings. Thus showcasing
your unique work and historical record of your research that has the potential to become an
historical artefact in and of itself, for future generations.

sources used and any difficulties you faced. Explain any gaps in your history and what you have
