Meteor is the next take on agile development on the full JavaScript stack. Based on established JavaScript tools like Node, JQuery and Underscore, it still brings a fresh and integrated approach. And MongoDB is very much its heart: Minimongo implements a client side MongoDB API for manipulating your data model; Transparent replication of data between client and server; Using WebSockets, MongoDB oplog events replicate immediately to all clients, making it simple to do distributed applications "Google Docs style."

Есть сильное ощущение, что разработчики не обновляются на более новую Java только потому что нет отчетливого понимания о том, что творится с современной Java, и это непонимание усилилось после изменения процесса и сроков релиза новых версий. За ближайшие 50 минут я хочу попытаться убедить вас, что обновления это единственный путь успеха для самой Java и бизнеса экосистемы, ведь не стоит забывать, что это парная игра: тех, кто пишет приложения на Java и тех, кто пишет саму Java. Не забывайте, мы тут “в одной лодке”. В рамках этого доклада, я хочу развенчать 6 существующих заблуждений о современной Java: 1. Модули не нужны! 2. Java не годится для облаков. 3. JavaFx мертва! 4. Спецификации проектов OpenJDK крутые, но нет реального прогресса. 5. Java закостенела и не развивается. 6. GraalVM будет заменой HotSpot.

PaaS landscape has changed in 2011 with the unveiling of PaaS solutions like OpenShift and Cloud Foundry. The earlier PaaS solutions for Java developers like Google App Engine had lot of restrictions like learning new paradigm of programming , fewer choices in terms of languages and frameworks, diluted support which made it difficult to port existing applications to Cloud. With OpenShift you can very easily port your existing application to cloud without learning anything new or changing your code. OpenShift is great because it not only provides you with the choices of programming language (Java, PHP, Python), frameworks (like Spring or JavaEE), databases (like MySQL or MongoDB) but it also gives you control over the underlying infrastructure. In this session I will show you how you can deploy a Spring MongoDB application to OpenShift Express. Then I will show you how to deploy the same application on auto-scalable, cluster-enabled PaaS, OpenShift Flex.
