This document presents a library management system project by six students guided by Kazi Wasif Ahmed. It discusses the existing manual system and proposes an online system with features like online book searching and reservations, barcode scanning for book issues/returns, automatic late fee calculation, and ability for librarians to add new books to the database. Entity relationship diagrams are presented for both the existing and proposed systems along with use case, data flow, and class diagrams. The conclusion states that the project aims to computerize library operations for easier and effective information storage about books and users.

3. Introduction
• Library is the collection of different types of books.
• It provides Books for large number of readers.
• Thus we need web based system for managing the
Library.
• Library Management System provides the
systematic handling the records of books and
readers.
• Adding new users, books and
magazines/newspapers.
• Updating Users, books and magazines/newspapers.
• Deleting Users, books and magazines/newspapers.

4. Existing System Overview
• In our library of Stamford University Bangladesh,
many of the transactions are done manually.
• No online book reservation system
• No complete Book list available
• No auto fine system
• Such system creates haphazard records of library.
• Manual system can give only the information about
the book issued by the students .
• While updating data misplacing records
,redundancy problem etc.

6. Proposed System
• A website for students and library staff. The website must have database
management system(a SQL server)
• Login system
• Option for searching available books
• A complete list of Books
• Each book will have barcode sticker system. Students will withdraw or
return the book using barcode scanner. The scanner will identify book
issue date, return date, late fine fee, Book name, Book ID etc and insert
or delete the info to database automatically.
• Users can reserve books online and he must collect the book from library
within 48 hours. Otherwise, the book’s status will be set as available.
• Student must return the book within 10 days. After 10 days System will
automatically count late fine fee for each day and the student will get
an email notification of late fine fee. The late fine fee will be added to his
university tuition fee automatically.
• The Librarian will be able to register new book to the database of online
website.

Staff/student Name. From the Database
which have saved into the Library
Management System.

31. Conclusion :
• The project LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM is for
computerizing the working in a library.
• The software takes care of all the requirements of
an a library and is capable to provide easy
and effective storage of information related to
books & users.
