Ceramic lined steel pipes provide abrasion and corrosion resistance for transporting materials. The pipes have an inner alumina ceramic layer formed through a thermite reaction at high temperatures, surrounded by intermediate and outer steel layers. This ceramic lining provides high hardness and abrasion resistance 20 times that of carbon steel. It is also corrosion and heat resistant from -50 to 800 degrees Celsius, while being lighter weight than other lined pipes. The ceramic lined pipes can replace more expensive alloy or coated pipes and provide much longer lifetimes for abrasive material transport.
