Les Goélands is a French novel published in 1925 by French writer Pierre Loti. It tells the story of a naval officer stationed in the Mediterranean who falls in love with a young Corsican woman named Marianna. However, their relationship is complicated by his duties and impending transfer away from the island, as well as by cultural and religious differences between them.
