The document discusses criticisms of and disagreements with certain aspects of the theory of evolution from a religious perspective. It argues that evolution has not been directly observed, only inferred, and questions the idea of abiogenesis or life arising from non-living matter. It asserts that evolution is taught as fact rather than theory and has been applied beyond biology to areas like history, which it says has led to dangerous ideas. It expresses concern that acceptance of evolution has undermined the biblical account of creation and the authority of scripture.
Questions on doctrine 50th anniversary conference -Herbert DouglassAntonio Bernard
This document discusses the publication of Questions on Doctrine (QOD) in 1957 and the theological issues it raised. It argues that QOD attempted to merge Adventist theology with Calvinism without recognizing how incompatible certain aspects were. This led to a "theological earthquake" that created confusion and divisions within Adventism. It also suggests that many independent ministries within Adventism exist today because of the theological divisions opened up by QOD. The document examines the early interactions between Adventist and evangelical leaders that led to the publication of QOD and analyzes some of the theological disagreements that arose in its aftermath.
Why Christians Must Challenge Evolution ( With embedded video of message)Abundant Life Fellowship
Scientifically, the Theory of Evolution is seen by more and more scientists as having major weaknesses. Future sermons will support that fact. The real problem with evolution is that it presents students with a worldview that eliminates the possibility of God in creation. More than a few Christians have had their faith weakened or destroyed by the sole teaching of evolution to the exclusion of Intelligent Design which is just as or more reasonable as evolution.

This deck covers the intersection of faith and science and covers topics like fideism and scientism. Covers the history of the conflict and intersection of religion and science.
The author examines available evidence to examine the question of "Are we alone?", i.e., whether humans are the only intelligent species in the Milky Way, or if the galaxy is teeming with advanced civilizations. The author discusses barriers to physical contact with extra-terrestrial beings and addresses Fermi's paradox "Where is everybody?" using the Drake Equation. The final answer is surprising, disturbing, and inspirational all at the same time. The appendix analyzes the strategy of the SETI project from and engineer's point of view, and offers some advice to maximize the chances of finding alien civilizations who may be transmitting beacon signals to announce their presence: Look for them in the Andromeda galaxy.
The document discusses the relationship between science and faith. It explores how science uses empirical evidence and the scientific method to understand natural phenomena, while faith involves believing in something without tangible proof. The document examines several perspectives on how science and faith interact, including how scientific discoveries have been used to support stories from the Bible. While science and faith see the world differently, the document argues they are not necessarily in conflict and can even support each other.
This document discusses biblical miracles and arguments for and against their possibility. It begins by asking questions about which miracles are easier to believe and Jesus' purpose in performing miracles. It then considers objections to miracles like violations of natural laws and responses like God's authority over nature. The document aims to argue that miracles are possible if God exists and aims to counter common objections by appealing to God's power and the context of Jesus' life and message.
This document summarizes a research paper about the relationship between science and faith. The paper discusses how science uses empirical evidence and the scientific method to understand natural phenomena, while faith involves believing in something without proof. Several sources are cited that discuss how scientific discoveries can support stories from the Bible, such as evidence that weather events could have parted the Red Sea. However, other scientists dispute that certain archaeological findings are evidence for biblical stories. Overall, the document argues that while science and faith see the world differently, they are compatible and even support each other.

Religion and Godless Science Fiction explores how science fiction has typically treated religion, ignoring it, deconstructing it, or trivializing it. Notable exceptions include A Canticle for Leibowitz, which engages seriously with both religion and science. The document analyzes how A Canticle portrays tensions between religious and scientific worldviews but presents both perspectives with respect. It argues science fiction would benefit from maturely comparing the perspectives like A Canticle does, moving beyond viewing religion as ephemeral to acknowledging it as a fundamental part of the human experience.
This document contains excerpts from a film or presentation discussing various topics related to origins and science such as assumptions, interpretations of data, Darwin, geology, natural selection, rapid formation of geological features, hybridization, and more. This document outlines an agenda and presentation for "Teach the Truth Ministries Seminar Part 1; Ronny’s Exposed Lies". The seminar leader, Ron Allard, will present the creationist worldview and argue that evolution is presented as fact in textbooks while omitting alternatives. Allard believes students should consider multiple perspectives and that indoctrination occurs when only one view is presented. The presentation will examine interpretations of geological features like the Grand Canyon from both the creationist and evolutionist viewpoints.
Biblical Catholic Answers for John Calvin - Dave ArmstrongJasterRogueII
This document provides an introduction and table of contents for a book written by Dave Armstrong titled "Biblical Catholic Answers for John Calvin". The introduction summarizes that Armstrong seeks to provide a point-by-point critique of John Calvin's influential work "The Institutes of the Christian Religion" from a Catholic perspective, focusing especially on Book IV which deals with ecclesiology. Armstrong acknowledges Calvin's greater qualifications but believes that as an introductory work, non-scholars can also offer a critique. The table of contents outlines that the book will contain criticism of Calvin's views on the church, papacy, sacraments and more, as well as areas of agreement.
This foreword discusses how Charles Darwin and the theory of evolution through natural selection continue to be controversial topics in society. While about half of modern society accepts evolution as the explanation for life's diversity, the other half rejects it, often for religious reasons. Darwin realized in the 1830s that evolution was true but delayed publishing his theory for over 20 years out of fear of the religious backlash. His ideas challenged a literal interpretation of the Bible's creation story and therefore challenged many people's religious beliefs. As a result, Darwin remains a symbol of the conflict between science and religion for some. The controversy is not really an intellectual one but a clash between scientific and non-scientific ways of understanding the natural world.
Feminist theology has affected Christology in several ways according to this paper. The feminist movement began in the 1940s-50s advocating for greater rights and roles for women in both secular society and religious institutions. This led religious feminists to argue that traditional gender roles in the church were oppressing women and preventing them from exercising their spiritual gifts. They called for a reevaluation of women's roles and status in the church. While some denominations resisted these calls for change initially, most eventually began allowing women to take on more leadership positions including ordination, which significantly altered traditional views of gender roles and hierarchy within the church.

This document discusses the debate around teaching creationism versus evolution in public schools. It argues that banning creationism from school curricula discriminates against the 44% of Americans who believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible's creation story. While evolutionists claim their theory is not a religion, some scientists acknowledge parallels between evolution and religious faith. The document concludes that allowing creationism as a separate elective course could find common ground while respecting all beliefs.
The document discusses the relationship between religion and science. It argues that while science does not have all the answers, it uses evidence and testing to establish facts about the universe. It also discusses how some still believe in supernatural beings even though this clashes with modern scientific views. The debate around evolution and creationism is an emotional one, with creationists seeing evolution as a threat to religion. Overall, the document examines the tensions between the scientific and religious worldviews.
This document provides an overview of creation science and arguments against evolution from a young Earth creationist perspective. It begins with definitions of key terms from science and evolution. It then discusses issues with the scientific method and evidence against evolution like gaps in the fossil record, limits to genetic variation, and problems with the origin of life. It argues creation science is a valid term as ICR scientists use the scientific method to evaluate evidence. Overall, it aims to present scientific arguments for a literal biblical creation over evolution.
Kenneth Miller believes that science and religion are not mutually exclusive. While science can explain the natural world, it cannot prove or disprove the existence of God. Miller argues that evolution and belief in God are compatible, with evolution being a process through which God created life. He believes humans have a moral responsibility to care for the planet as stewards. Miller disagrees with creationists who argue against evolution, finding knowledge rather than ignorance a compelling reason to believe in God. He sees "alternatives" to evolution promoted in some schools as unscientific and misleading to students.
This document summarizes and critiques a book about Kurt Gödel and his famous incompleteness theorems. While praising the book's intelligence and thoughtfulness, the author cautions that the book fails to dismiss supernatural thinking and instead perpetuates the "ghosts of Plato, Descartes, Kant, and God," threatening human survival by tolerating religious and delusional beliefs. A sociological understanding is needed to banish these ghosts and help humanity adapt to existential threats.
The End of Christianity ( PDFDrive ).pdfOliver Ramos
This document contains reviews and endorsements of the book "The End of Christianity" edited by John Loftus. The reviewers praise the anthology for providing a compelling case against Christian faith through fresh perspectives and substantive arguments. One reviewer indicates the book will be the second they provide to those wanting to understand why they are no longer Christian. Overall, the reviews suggest the book annihilates the Christian position with disputatious arguments and shows that when it comes to God and Christianity, questions far outnumber certainties.
This document summarizes the trend away from faith in God over the past 100 years in western nations. It discusses how society no longer generally acknowledges God or a moral authority beyond what mankind creates. This has led to moral relativism and the view that everything is relative. When God is removed, people are left only satisfying their own desires with no standard for right and wrong. Looking at history, regimes without belief in God caused massive bloodshed by placing man's evolution at the center of their ideology. However, some who profess religion do not follow its teachings. While humanists believe religion is irrational, evolution itself cannot be proven and requires faith. The document warns that a rejection of truth leaves people open to deception as foretold in the

SuMMARIZING THE OPTIONS
There was a time when it seemed that religion might just dis-
appear. Throughout the modern period secularism continued
to grow. It appeared that the religions of humankind would be
superseded by science and left behind as historical artifacts, like
Egyptian temples, the Greek gods, and many Christian churches
in Northern Europe today. Certainly the hope of a world with-
out religion continues to motivate some thinkers. Richard Daw-
kins’ ‘Beyond Belief ’ movement and advertising campaigns in
Britain and Canada have precisely this outcome as their goal.
And yet at present the outcome they strive for appears unlikely.
If anything, there has been a resurgence of religious commitment
in many cultures. Any decline in religion in Europe and North
America has been more than compensated for by the rapid
growth of Pentecostal and charismatic movements in churches
around the world. Even non-religious thinkers, such as Jürgen
Habermas, one of Germany’s leading philosophers, now speak
of moving – contrary to their and others’ expectations – into a
‘post-secular society.’1
Religion, then, it appears, is.

Kill the Root and Kill the Tree
1. “Evolution has been
observed. It’s just that it
hasn’t been observed
while it’s happening.” –
Evolutionary biologist
Richard Dawkins in an
interview with Bill
Moyers on PBS.
Mr. Dawkins’ state-
ment really summa-
rizes what I’ve always
thought about evolution:
A core ideal taught for
decades by proponents of
evolution is called “abio-
genesis” – also called
spontaneous generation.
Abiogenesis teaches that
life sprung from non-life.
If this is true, then
shouldn’t we see those
processes happening all
around us? And since we
do not see the process of
abiogenesis today, who
was around to document
the original spontaneous
generation event?
Any of us old enough
to have had a pet rock
never saw our pets devel-
op legs and walk,
although some of us were
able to get our pets to do
a few tricks like “play
dead” and “sit,” and we
could get them to roll
over with a little assis-
tance – but I digress…
Evolution is being
taught in every K-12
school, college and uni-
versity and even histori-
cally Christian based
institutions of higher
learning. Evolution is
taught as “science fact”
when it is not. Since we
have no documented evo-
lution of non-living mat-
ter into living, all that we
have to go on is a belief
that spontaneous genera-
tion happened at some
point in the very very
very distant past (how
convenient).
I’ve mentioned this in
the past but must repeat
it here: The word “sci-
ence” simply means
“knowledge” (don’t take
my word for it, look it
up). Maybe some of you
remember from fifth
grade that the “scientific
method” was empirical.
You could see and/or
experience the effects and
outcomes that produced
what we would call “sci-
ence” (again – knowl-
edge). Science consisted
of natural laws and our
empirical observation.
For example: When we
create technologies based
on the
func-
tion of
electric-
ity and
magne-
tism
and our
empiri-
cal
study
of elec-
tro-
magne-
tism we get electric
motors that can run our
air conditioners or refrig-
erators or tiny motors
that spin DVD discs.
That is what I call true –
applied – science. What
good is knowledge if it is
not applicable?
When we create expla-
nations that detail the
processes of all life with-
out having observed said
processes, we are not
speaking of science.
Believing something
without ever seeing and/
or observing it is called
“faith.” Such (blind) faith
turns evolution into a
religious pursuit, not a
pursuit of science.
Reminds me of when
Jesus said to a doubting
Thomas – “You believe
because you have seen,
but blessed is he that
believes without ever
having seen.”
It turns out that the
“religion of evolution” is a
very dangerous belief
that promotes ideas that
some groups of people
haven’t “evolved” as
much as others. This was
how Hitler was able to
convince much of Nazi
Germany that Jews
weren’t “quite as human”
as the rest of the German
populace. In the U.S.,
teaching that we evolved
from monkeys helps to
justify racism in the
minds of many. After all,
not everyone has fully
evolved – in the minds of
those who have fully
drunk the evolutionary
Kool-Aid. When I was
in grade school, the theo-
ry of evolution was just
that – a theory. But even
then it was an ideal that
was being taught in
every area of scientific
thought. One famous
spokesman for evolution,
Julian Huxley, was quite
candid on this point:
“The concept of evolu-
tion was soon [after its
appearance] extended
into other than biological
fields. Inorganic subjects
such as the life histories
of the stars and the for-
mation of the chemical
elements on the one
hand, and on the other
hand subjects like lin-
guistics, social anthropol-
ogy and comparative law
and religion, began to be
studied from an evolu-
tionary angle, until today
we are enabled to see
evolution as a universal
and all-pervading pro-
cess. Furthermore, with
the adoption of the evolu-
tionary approach in non-
biological fields, from cos-
mology to human affairs,
we are beginning to real-
ize that biological evolu-
tion is only one aspect to
evolution in general.”
Recently, I heard it
announced on main-
stream news that people
who believe that the
Bible is true and those
who hold to conservative
values have minds that
have not “fully evolved.” I
guess my ability to type
this column on a comput-
er is a functional equiva-
lent to those monkeys
that can stack boxes to
reach hanging bananas?
Another way that the
scientific community sin-
gles out individuals is to
create a language that
only an initiate of said
science would know and
understand. Those of us
who do not know the lan-
guage and terminology
just “ain’t edu-macated
enuff.” Having worked at
NASA for 12 years, I can
tell you that we were the
king of acronyms. For
example: When at a
meeting you could tell
who was a part of the
NASA “in-crowd” by how
many acronyms certain
folks knew and under-
stood. Most people were
afraid to let everyone else
in the room know that
they didn’t have a clue
what we were all talking
about for fear of being
seen as not being in the
know.
My biggest concern
regarding the damage
being done by our “soci-
ety of evolutionary
thought” is the effect on
leaders in Christian faith.
There are now teachers
and preachers in church
who you can find quoting
statistics and science
facts promoted by evolu-
tion. Evolution is so
embedded in world mind-
set and thinking that it is
winding its serpentine
self around Biblical truth
and doctrine like a boa
constrictor preparing its
victim.
How can a six-day cre-
ation account and a 6,000
year Biblical earth age
(give or take a few years)
gel with billions of years
of evolution? I can imag-
ine many Christian pas-
tors would disagree these
days and state – in error
– that you can believe
that evolution science
and the Bible do not have
to conflict.
Turn Genesis into a
bunch of “nice stories”
and not the truthful
account that it is, you
then destroy the whole of
the scripture as a source
for truth – and you also
destroy the credibility of
the central figure of
Biblical based faith:
Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
In John 5:46 – “For if
you believed Moses, you
would believe Me, for he
wrote about Me (47). But
if you do not believe his
writings, how will you
believe My words?” Since
Moses wrote the first
books of the Bible (under
the dictatorial guidance
of God Himself) and
Genesis is the first of
those accounts, bringing
the accuracy of Genesis
into question NOW
BRINGS EVERYTHING
JESUS SAID into ques-
tion. If you are a believer
who thinks that there is
no conflict with believing
evolutionary billion year
ideals and the six-day,
6,000 year of Biblical cre-
ation account, you are
compromising your faith
and believing “philosophy
and vain deceit” and call-
ing YHVH a liar or at
best saying He is in error.
As people of truth, a
Christian must be able to
defend what they believe
with scripture – it is not
good enough to use our
personal experiences or
opinion. We must arm
ourselves with deeper
understanding and
knowledge of the what’s
and whys of our beliefs,
and base all of this on
scripture – God’s word.
This may require that we
study not just the Bible
but also study and under-
stand what detractors of
the faith say. We should
consider studying other
faith’s core beliefs, the
sciences and also the
writings of those who
have shaped the minds of
modern-day leaders (like
Julian Huxley).
The Bible says that “in
the last days, scoffers will
arise.” I don’t think that
scripture is referring to
non-believers, because
they have always been
scoffers. The scoffers that
the Bible is referring to
are most likely people
who otherwise call them-
selves people of Godly
faith. The world’s under-
standing of creation
through the lens of evolu-
tion is causing many peo-
ple of faith to scoff at the
Genesis account of cre-
ation. If we continue as
people of Christian faith
to lackadaisically include
evolution in our beliefs
we are killing the roots of
our faith – and will, in
time, kill the tree – or
more importantly, kill
the belief in the one who
hung on a tree.

minology or names in
this piece that you have
never heard of before, I
strongly encourage you to
look them up on the

yourself approved, not
