William Kentridge is hosting several events in Cape Town centered around his multimedia work "The Refusal of Time". The work is a collaboration involving video, sound, sculpture and dance. It will be on display at the Iziko South African National Gallery from February 20th to June 21st. Additionally, Kentridge will present the performance piece "Refuse the Hour" with collaborators, give a lecture on peripheral thinking accompanied by projections and music, and participate in a film series and book launch of "The Soho Chronicles" chronicling his animated films.

The Bridge Groups Artists show IMAGINATION at MoMaThe Bridge
The Bridge Group Artists began twenty-three years ago under the direction of Judith Raskin Rosenthal, ATR. Many of the artists began with very little or no formal training. Eventually the group attracted individuals with some art education or experience. All have come to understand that the desire to create is in itself an expression of mental wellness and that—as artists—there is always room for growth. Over the past year, MoMA's Department of Education and The Bridge’s Art Department participated in their sixth annual extended partnership.
At The Brooklyn Brothers, we regularly get together to discuss all things trend related. The sessions, hosted by the rising stars Vicky Simmons & Sarah Cotterill, and the brilliant Matt Springate enable us to learn everything current and future facing.
We hope you enjoy them too.
(This will also be posted on The Brooklyn Brothers Slideshare account, where you will be able to download)
Aflamnah gave this presentation at the SHARE conference in Beirut on 7th October, 2012. It is about the role crowdfunding can play in continuing to create our culture but also to celebrate it and share it! Enjoy

Understanding, hoping,
believing, not out of
conviction, but from
physical experience, that
from the physical making,
from the very imperfections
of technique – our bad
backward walking – parts
of the world, and parts of
us, are revealed, that we
neither expressed nor
knew, until we saw them
– when we realised we
always did know them.
Through the spaces
opened by the stupidities
themselves – the randomly
torn pages, the line and
the parabola – we enact,
and see, and celebrate our
construction of our world.
This is how I make a
horse. This is how I make
a face. This is how I see.
This is the space of the
work in the studio.
