Overseeing and managing the operations for private trust namely:
i) Manage and supervise the administration of trust funds to ensure proper

example insurance trust.
Submit relevant documents for insurance claims to various insurance

executor in their Will. Protect assets for example ensure all landed
property are covered with fire insurance prior to these properties being
transferred to the beneficiaries.

The responsibilities consists of developing new investment products with focus to global
and local equities and management of existing investment products.
Product Development
This section would cover from the point of idea generation to the point the product is out
to the public such as:
a) Idea generation of a new product or funds;
b) Sourcing of investment products from external fund managers;
c) Structuring the fund such as determining the investment universe, restrictions,
the investment themes and sectors and lastly the underlying assets of the fund
d) Liaising with relevant internal parties such as investment team, legal and
compliance, risk management, operations and sales team on investment, legal,
compliance, risks, operations and marketing concerns;
e) Developing and reviewing the product training and sales kit such as presentation
deck, frequently asked questions and brochures;
f) Participate in negotiations with external legal and operations team representing
the external fund manager;
g) Vetting of draft prospectus to ensure it is in line with the investment objective;
and to respond to any queries posed by the Securities Commission; and
h) Responding to due diligence queries forwarded by institutional distributors and
corporate clients.
Product Management
This covers the management of existing products within my portfolio in global and local
equities:
a) Reviewing the performance of the fund on a monthly basis;
b) Liaise with internal and external fund managers for their review of the fund’s
performance and their outlook concerning the fund;
c) Preparing the fund manager’s comments to be incorporated into the fund fact
sheet;
d) Support the sales and marketing team through updating the presentation deck for
the fund and preparing the market outlook every quarter and as and when
requested;
e) Responding to queries by distributors and sales team concerning the fund’s
performance;
f) Replying to due diligence queries posed by external distributors and corporate
clients.

My responsibilities can be compartmentalized to three areas namely the operations of
the private trust services and marketing of our private trust services and lastly, reporting
to the management.
Operations
Overseeing and managing the administrative function of the private trust division from
the point a trust is being set up to the point the trust fund is being administered. These
can be summarized to a few areas namely:
i) Setting up of procedures and forms to conform to Anti Money Laundering Act
2001 regulations. Develop the “know your customer “procedures to ensure it is
inline with regulatory requirements but to also make sure it is customer friendly.
This procedure is more related to the starting point of a trust being set up.
ii) Conduct quarterly risk management review with the Risk Management
Committee and the Audit Committee to discuss on trust administration processes
from the point of a trust being set up, the drafting of documents up to the
administration of the trust funds and to implement steps to eliminate or reduce
the risk.
iii) Monitor and ensuring the turn around time for drafting of trust deeds by me and
the legal executives are achieved. Vet trust deeds drafted by legal executives to
ensure quality of drafting and consistency.
iv) Overseeing the post drafting stage which includes ensuring all documents are
signed and stamped and trust assets, such as insurance policies are absolutely
assigned to the company.
v) Manage and supervise the administration of trust funds to ensure proper and
timely distribution and transfer of the payment or assets to the beneficiaries,
compliance with the relevant statutory, in house procedures and adherence to
the terms and conditions of the trust agreement. Liaise with insurance companies
on the insurance claims wherever the insurance policies formed part of the trust
assets.
vi) Design and implement internal procedures to ensure a smooth and faster
administration in the operation of the division. This includes designing various
forms and template documents agreement to achieve this objective.
Marketing & Business Development
The marketing and business development responsibilities are as below:
i) Meeting with clients to provide advice on legal and practical aspects on estate
planning and provide solutions and opinions to address the client’s concerns and
needs with regards to estate planning such as estate administration, trust
administration, business protection solutions and also determined the suitable
assets to be included in the trust for example insurance policies.
ii) Conduct and participate in marketing activities and road shows to promote trust
product and services.
iii) Develop innovative trust products and services for the company which includes
research and development, and after the product has been developed, the
supporting tools to market the product such as preparation of sales tools,
presentation materials, forms, fee and commission structure and other relevant
documents.
iv) Conduct talks for our franchisees and their clients on our trust services and
perform training on the franchisees to enhance their knowledge in the estate
planning industry.
Management reporting
Report monthly to the management on the status of all trust administration cases and
report quarterly to the investment committee on the investment status of each trust
administration cases.
Achievements
1. Being the contributor of articles for Smart Investor every month, in issues
regarding estate planning since April 2008 until December 2009
2. Created a product and service called “UAdvance” to provide immediate financial
funding upon the demise of a client,
3. Created and implemented internal manual monitoring system to ensure trust
deeds are drafted within the turn around time and to ensure smooth operation of
the post drafting stage.
4. Created and implemented an insurance database system for the capture of
insurance data for the purposes of ensuring premium reminders are sent and
movement of insurance policies are recorded

Position: Claims Officer
My main responsibilities in the department consist of providing legal advisory to the
department, handle litigation cases, review claims decisions either on technical, legal or
medical grounds and lastly dealing with complaints against the department by the clients
or the agents.
Legal Advisory.
This consists of giving providing legal opinion to the claims department on whether a
claims should be approved or rejected, advice on claims payout to ensure payment of
insurance proceeds are paid correctly and to ensure payments are made in accordance
with the relevant rules and regulations such as the Insurance Act 1996 and Anti Money
Laundering Act 2001.
Review of Claims
To review on certain claim decisions when challenged by the claimants. Claim review
will take into account the legal and medical reasons a claims decisions were made and
also to determine whether the claims decision should be maintained or be revised.
Litigation
Handling litigation cases against the company over claims decision and to to study panel
lawyers legal advice on such matters.
Complaints
Handle customer complaints pertaining to dissatisfaction on claims decision by liaising to
the customers, Financial Mediation Bureau and Bank Negara Malaysia. The complaints
could range from dispute on claims amount, rejection of liability, duration taken for
payment of claims and even the possibility of fraudulent claims.

In Kurnia Insurance, my role in the company is to handle the claims files for third party
bodily injury claims. The details of my responsibilities can be summarized as below:
i) Process & assess all third party bodily injury claims through direct negotiations
with third party solicitors or assessment of liabilities and settlement amount
through studying the panel lawyer’s opinion.
ii) Detection and prevention of fraudulent claims.
