Julia Margaret Cameron was a British photographer born in 1815 and died in 1879. She is considered one of the most influential photographers of the 19th century and was a pioneer in soft-focus style portraits. Cameron took up photography in her late 40s and her subjects included family, friends, and celebrities of the time such as Charles Darwin and Alfred Tennyson.
