LSU was founded in 1853 and has moved locations several times, currently in Baton Rouge. It offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees across many fields including veterinary medicine. The veterinary medicine program requires 6 years of education including 2 years of pre-vet coursework and a 4 year professional DVM program totaling 133 credit hours. In addition to academics, LSU has a live tiger mascot and archaeological Indian mounds on campus.
