The Garden Tomb is proposed as an alternative site for Jesus' burial to the traditional Church of the Holy Sepulchre site. Major General Charles Gordon discovered the site in 1867, which contains a first-century Jewish tomb cut from solid rock with a large weeping chamber and channel for rolling a stone, matching biblical descriptions. While it cannot be certain which site is authentic, the important fact is that Jesus rose from the dead as foretold in the gospels.
