Jane Addams was a pioneering U.S. social justice activist and author in the early 20th century. She co-founded Hull House, one of America's first settlement houses, which provided social services to immigrants and the poor in Chicago. Addams was also a pacifist and feminist leader who worked to improve conditions for labor unions, children, and women.
