Towards Sensing Information
Systems

Background
• Motivation
– Rising trend of transferring the communication, processing
and storage capabilities from computers to devices
• Problem
– Increasing complexity, lack of unifying models, lack of
interoperability
• CPS, WSN are becoming application silos
• Objective of the work
– Define the properties of the “future” Enterprise
Information Systems, so-called Sensing Information
Systems (SIS), hosted by the devices, and guidelines for
further research
• So Cyber Physical Systems can evolve to Cyber Physical
Ecosystems
